During his first overseas flight as defense secretary, Pete Hegseth shared a video of himself aboard a C-17 Globemaster III transport jet sitting in a Silver Bullet Command and Control Module. The converted Airstream trailer is one of two the Air Force deploys to give senior leaders, like Hegseth and other VVIPs, a secure, quiet place to conduct business in the middle of a noisy, often-crowded cargo aircraft.
Linked to from Red State’s “SecDef Hegseth Gets a Rude and Disrespectful Welcome by US Military Command in Germany”. Author Streif is objecting to wrinkles in the informal uniforms of welcoming committee general and staff. Also middle school students and moms protesting the end of DEI classes. ???????
That’s the EM-50 Urban Assault Vehicle. Czechoslovakia better be on the alert!
Czechoslovakia?
It’s like Wisconsin!
It’s just like going into Wisconsin...
“This is just the tip of the iceberg. If you’re willing to greet your boss in wrinkled clothes and allow him to be heckled by dependent wives, you can imagine what else is going on out of sight.”
Yeah, that was pretty undisciplined. The General was chubby and wearing ill fitting BDUs that have never seen an iron. And screeching wives ON BASE throwing a protest? Make that an unaccompanied tour for a while. He needs to square that base away and have them focus on the military part of things until they are back up to speed.
When I was in the Air Force, if we flew on a Cargo we used the mesh net seats attached to the wall. Let me tell you, they get uncomfortable after a few hours and you butt would hurt.
I bet guess his coffee is better too.
I was looking at the overview and noticed a snack table for the passengers. I don’t ever remember a snack table when I was flying in those. Just a lowly GS-13 eating whatever I decided to stow with me and the meal box they provided.
Technical name: “Silver Turd”
I just knew you guys would know about this.
And many thanks to all for their service.
Could that thing be rolled out the back while the plane is in the air?
Looks like a giant aluminum suppository.
Chances are the orders for Nome Alaska are already en route.
With a big chute and sealed to float?
Well, if it were to roll out the back by mistake that might be a problem for whoever’s inside.
Stripes! ;-)
Airstreams look great but they are about as fragile as pulling an airplane around behind your truck. As for the legendary build quality, Wally was a much better salesman than engineer. They are built just like any other RV, as little as you can get by with to make them look great long enough to sell them.
I should know, I have one and it is like a boat. The two best days for a boat are the day you buy it and the day you sell it. I know, some people love them.
I’m thinking of the rescue pods put on ships after the SS Edmund Fitzgerald incident.
They missed the opportunity to ‘paint the rocks’ and present a squared away unit.
Not pretty.
