Researchers examined cognitively normal human brain samples gathered at autopsy in early 2024 and found that tiny plastic shards were higher than just eight years earlier. The cadaver brains contained up to 30 times more microplastics than kidneys and liver, roughly equivalent to the amount found in an entire plastic spoon.
“The concentrations we saw in the brain tissue of normal individuals, who had an average age of around 45 or 50 years old, were 4,800 micrograms per gram, or 0.48% by weight,” said co-lead study author Matthew Campen, Regents’ professor

I really don’t want a spoon in my brain
Well we know the story can’t be related to Trump wants plastic straws huh.
I have a friend who’s a very health-conscious vegetarian. Don’t ever admit you brew coffee in an aluminum pot!
But she uses a Mr. Plastic coffee maker. Plastic basket, plastic well. Which btw she almost never cleans.
“Oh, it’s okay.” Maybe it is. *shrug*
I’ve switched over to a stainless steel but all automatic drip machines are going to have plastic somewhere, even if it’s just the piping and other internals.
We are so screwed.
we are all going to die with something. I’d rather have a silver spoon in my mouth
There’s always borosilicate glass. Boil the water in it, in the microwave, and pour it into a drip coffee carafe made of borosilicate. They can be found on amazon, and they have glass “baskets.” Don’t know what may be lurking in the paper filter :/
At least until someone finds a drawback to borosilicate, it’s probably less anxiety-producing than the competition.
I read somewhere that flatware is traditionally made of silver because silver is unfriendly to bacteria. So you’re good!
“Some people are made of plastic, some people are made of wood, some people have hearts of stone, some people are up to no good” whatcha see is whatcha get, the dramatics,1973. listen to the lyrics and compare them to the democrat party.
