Black fellow just prayed that amazing emotional prayer. I did not catch his name. Very earnest.
Yes, it was a beautiful prayer. The other “prayers” were more like speeches.
It is far worse more than a critical spirit if you know of the claims of the poster.
I don’t know anything about his/her ‘claims’; but I don’t care for show-off piety and self righteousness. The poster seems guilty of exactly what he complains of in the Pastor.
My son lives in Detroit. It really has changed. The Illitch family has invested millions in renovations, new infrastructure and job creation. My kid absolutely loves it.
What you said is exactly what Jesus warned about.
“He invoked the power name of Jesus Christ many times. That is all anyone needs.”
Matthew 7:
True and False Disciples
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’
23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’
Some people are blind and do not see the truth.
Follow the path you desire.
Just remember my words of warning when you need them.
I live elsewhere in the state and hearing these things makes me very hopeful that Detroit is getting ready to roar back.
I don’t take advice from pompous, self-important egotists.
you don’t know the Word of God AT ALL. Shame on you for spreading lies about this pastor as if he’s not a genuine believer, just because of your twisted theology. Pathetic
To these old ears, there was a major nod to Martin Luther King Jr. in his delivery…which is appropriate on this day, and is acid on the ears (and souls) of the heathens in now departed administration.
The man got his money’s worth in that prayer.
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, ...
It seems like you are saying that everyone who says Lord, Lord, will not enter the kingdom.
I do not agree.
You are humorous... You contradict Jesus’s warning in Matthew 7, not mine.
Did you read my post 45 above where Jesus addresses the statement you made?
Believe what you want. I don’t care.
You are twisting it around.
That is not what I said.
Besides, it was not me saying it. It was Jesus.
Please read it again.
Matthew 7
22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’
23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’
Better look in a mirror.
what’s your evidence that the pastor is not a believer?
These Scriptures are about people that outwardly portray themselves as religious but have no relationship with Jesus Christ. It’s sad that you are lecturing people and judging people without knowing what the Word says or means. I believe it is YOU that needs to heed the warning.
My old man was lead astray by that Christian Businessman’s thing years ago. My mom was very distressed by it. She went to one of their services - with Dad and the others trying to get her to speak in tongues.
I asked dad if they had an interpreter present. (No).
“Well dad - that is required according to the Bible.” Then read the part about all the different gifts Christians are given - some ARE given the gift of tongues - but not all. Etc.
He eased up on my mom, but stayed with the group, and straying away from his lifelong friends. When he died he had appointed men from that group to carry his casket. Strangers to the family.
Mom felt obliged to his wishes. But had his (and her) friends as honorary pall-bearers.
I will listen to the prayer with more critical ears when I hear it. I guess that goes for any preacher. Or person. I don’t mind a sermon where the guy is running through a list of points and topics. I can’t stand it when they turn a prayer into a similar thing. (I have no idea if this preacher did that.)
I was REALLY IMPRESSED THAT MELANIA’S DAD WAS THERE.
