Schrödinger’s Quantum Cat Awakens to Revolutionize Computing

In a groundbreaking experiment, UNSW researchers successfully applied the Schrödinger’s cat concept using an antimony atom to enhance quantum computations.

This method significantly improves the reliability of quantum data processing and error correction, potentially accelerating the advent of practical quantum computing.

And those numbers of yours only make sense if I can reliably store (and recall) TWO bits for each qubit.

Theoretically, qubits can store and process data just like regular bits.

Practically, quantum computing has a hardware problem and major trouble with errors. Today's quantum's computers are unbelievably powerful and fast, but their output is garbage, useless.

Qubits require a perfect quantum state of 50/50 "0" and "1." A ratio of 50.000001/49.999999 won't cut it! Qubits are very small and very susceptible to noise and interference. It may not be possible for a qubit particle to achieve a perfect quantum state in this universe.

Google thinks they have a work-around for this error problem by "estimating" and "rounding" the quantum errors and they predict a workable quantum computer in 10 years. This timeline is not encouraging. It is the same timeline for cold fusion reactors 50 years ago!

I shot Schrödinger’s cat with Chekhov’s gun.

"Well, since the Internet is largely made up of cat videos, it stands to reason that a famous cat would assist in the creation of even more computing power."

Who the heck do you suppose invented both in the first place! Now you are just learning about it? You really need to do some serious catch up!

"(changing it by observing it)"

Physicists have a different definition of "observing" than you or I do. If you observe a jet flying overhead, you don't change it by looking at it, and it doesn't behave any differently if 1, or 100,000, or zero people observe it. It is changed, though, by being observable.

To "observe" something as tiny as an atom, means that you must measure its properties. It's the measurement process that alters it. That's what "observing" means.
