Though already popular, the COVID-19 pandemic skyrocketed the demand for disinfectant wipes. Masking and vaccines were contentious along political fault lines, but the public was united in its embrace of wipes. Americans zealously wiped countertops, door knobs, and even groceries.
While other pandemic precautions waned, the disinfecting frenzy continues. The American Cleaning Institute–the trade group representing disinfectant manufacturers–proudly declared that “Americans are still wild about wipes.” In North America alone, the disinfectant wipes market grew to USD 3.72 billion in 2023 and is expected to reach USD 5.64 billion by 2031.

I keep them around. The only thing I use them for is wiping down the outside of the toilet.
For countertops I spray vinegar or, if it is greasy, ammonia.
Instead of trying to disinfect every object just keep your hands away from your face and wash them properly.
I have several cell phone cases that are cheap & easily removable. I change it twice a week and wash throw it in the dishwasher.
People go through all this paranoid cleaning and don’t realize that the biggest source of germs in their life is the cell phone.
There was very little that came out of the covid scare which is worth while.
Almost all junk.
We grew up and have lived many many decades without a single disinfectant wipe around. Gosh, how will we ever make it another decade or so?
Article Summary: “The disinfectant wipes of popular brands often contain antimicrobial chemicals called quaternary ammonium compounds (QACs)” which “are linked to reproductive, developmental, respiratory, and skin harms” and “neurological damage. Further, these chemicals can contribute to antimicrobial resistance, making certain bacteria resistant both to the antimicrobials themselves and also to critical antibiotics.”
Good post
I use 91% alcohol to light the morning fire in my wood stove.
Disinfecting takes place when some is spilled refilling the spray bottle.
Half a paper towel works well.
So, we use the wipes quite a bit.
I have 35 years experience in emergency medicine. I make my own wipes by buying adult paper washcloths from walmart. I open the package and pour in some 91 percent alcohol. I keep a pack handy in the car in case I come in contact with a democrat. I use the wipes to clean contact surfaces when I am out and about. I also keep a small cardboard box in the vehicle to dispose of the used wipes.
My covid routine is daily D3 with K, zinc, and quercetin with bromelain. Haven’t had a flu shot in 15 years (had to bribe the hospital flu shot giver) and can’t remember when I had the flu last.
Thanks for sharing!
You need exposure to germs to build up the immune system. Use it, or lose it!
We do basically the same which is the Zelenko protocol and haven’t had a sniffle since Nov 2022.

LOL, I stay away from them as much as possible! I think our cats are cleaner!
My housekeeper uses an ammonia solution to scrub my kitchen floor and bathroom floors.
Sprays it on re-usable and washable scrub pads that fit on a velcro mop.
Ammonia is old school but it does the job.
As far mobile phones go, I don’t have one.
I find it makes life simpler.
in case I come in contact with a democrat.
Don’t forget your six foot pole!
the last year I worked in medicine I ran a clinic where I had 200 positive flu test patients in one month. I was sure I would get it but didn’t.
Thank you for this comment. Most people don’t understand the science. They create the resistant bacteria.
Constant wiping with antibacterial commercial products is why the hospitals are full of resistant organisms.
If you are one of those who don’t use the products, you can even survive a hospital-acquired infection after a period of time. The human body is a wonderful thing. It figures out a way.
After a day of running errands and grocery shopping, I wash my hands at the kitchen sink when I get home, I hope I’m not being overly neurotic.
“Don’t forget your six foot pole!”
That’s neighborly. I use a 10 ft one.
