A Quebec water bomber fighting the Palisades Fire in Los Angeles has been grounded after it collided with a drone flying in restricted airspace, officials said.
The collision left the plane, known as Quebec 1, with a "sizable hole in its wing," said Christopher Thomas, a spokesperson with the California state firefighting agency, Cal Fire.
"Fortunately, they landed the plane without incident," Thomas said in an interview Friday.
The incident downed all aircraft fighting the fire for nearly half an hour on Thursday while officials made sure the skies were clear, he said.

I bet it was a ‘news’ drone. They all have them nowadays................
Somebody needs to go to jail.
I saw this on the Foxnewsnow channel.....they showed video of the plane sitting outside a hangar and you could see the damage......how did the get that video footage?......A FREAKIN’ DRONE! 🤷
You just can’t make stuff like that up. SMH
There ar eso may nowadays that the local parks have signs that say:
NO DRONE FLYING!
It’s a federal crime but how do you track ‘em down? 🤔
I saw reportage from an LA station last night that stated it had to be a fairly large drone because this plane is burly enough that a small one wouldn’t have done more than scuff the paint.
FWIW.
Anything over 250 grams us required to be registered in the US.
For what that’s worth.
Guess who has a UAV team.

Guess who’s tops on my suspect list.
That would be ironic!.......................
SSDD for this lot I’m thinking.
Keystone Fire Department!...................
There have been multiple YouTube videos taken by drones posted in the last 24 hours.
Most by private YouTube channel individuals. Not like NBC news out of LA.
The dykes took down their own aircraft?
Duct tape. She’ll be fine.
You will note that the local enemedia seems to show zero interest in finding out if the drone that did it was owned and/or operated by the public sector.
That damage could be repaired quickly and easily unless it punched into a fuel tank in the wing. If such one would need to take some skin off the wing to repair internal damage.
Apparently the crew of the plane wasn’t even aware they’d struck the drone. Those Super Scoopers are quite ruggedly built planes. But, yeah, even so, the wing would have to be checked carefully for any internal damage. Could a loose piece or pieces of the drone inside the wing interfere with any control mechanisms?
My guess is that if it happened at all that it was almost certainly from a law enforcement agency. The incidents that I am aware of in the past which caused actual damage to aircraft have almost all been from law enforcement drones. This is because law enforcement uses drones which are typically bigger, heavier, have bigger batteries, motors, and more equipment mounted to them than consumer drones.
One of my neighbors on the airport where we live worked for the Sheriff's department. In addition to being a deputy, he had a department owned drone that was kept in the trunk of his police car. He never paid any attention to the aviation rules when using his department drone from his home. It was larger than most consumer drones and he could fly it miles away to check out situations that the police were interested in.
Nearly all “toy” drones sold in the last few years weigh less than 8 ounces. Most of mine weigh closer to 4 ounces. The two DJI drones that I have, a Mini 3 and Mini 4 both weigh approximately 8 ounces as well. I have only one drone from many years ago that weighs a little more than a pound. Even it would completely disintegrate... probably without even making a dent if it was hit by the leading edge of a large plane or even one of the small airplanes that my wife and I own.
Strangely enough no pictures of the damage to the aircraft seem to have been provided to the media. I believe that there is a high likelihood that the story is completely made up as a reminder to people to not take pictures and video of the mayhem completely caused by this total DEI madness. They don't want pictures and video of the raiding parties from surrounding less affluent neighborhoods to make it into the media.
I see there actually is a picture of the damage... I am still not convinced that this was from a civilian drone.
