Two people were killed and 19 were injured when a small plane crashed into the roof of a warehouse building and burned Thursday afternoon near Fullerton Municipal Airport.

The plane crashed at about 2 p.m. in the 2300 block of West Raymer Avenue, just east of the airport, police said. Black smoke could be seen rising from a hole in the roof of the business, one of several in the area.
The two deceased are believed to have been inside the aircraft when it crashed, according to authorities.
Nineteen people, who were working inside the building at the time of the crash, were injured. Eleven people were transported to a hospital, eight were treated and released at the scene. Details about the hospitalized victims' conditions were not immediately available.
Witnesses reported a loud explosion and a large emergency response at Michael Nicholas Design Factory, a home goods store.
"People are just shaken over the situation," said Mark Anderson. "It was just a large boom, and then one of the people went out and said, 'Oh my gosh, the building's on fire.'"
Police identified the plane as a home-built Van's Aircraft RV-10 with seating for four people. The pilot appeared to be returning to the airport after takeoff, police said. It was not clear how many people were onboard the plane.
"A single-engine Van’s RV-10 crashed in Fullerton, California around 2:15 p.m. local time on Thursday, Jan 2. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will investigate. The NTSB will be in charge of the investigation and will provide all updates," wrote the FAA in a statement to NBCLA.

— Fullerton PD (@FPDPIO) January 2, 2025 In November, a small plane crashed into a tree on Gilbert Street near Artesia Avenue next to Fullerton Municipal Airport. Two people suffered minor injuries in that crash.
The only general aviation airport in Orange County, Fullerton Municipal Airport is near the 5 and 91 freeways, about six miles from Disneyland in Anaheim.
AVIATION PING!...................
I really hope the pilot wasn’t heard on the radio yelling allahua ackbar. That always makes it harder for authorities to determine the cause.
I didn’t realize that Boeing made light aircraft...
LOL!...................
Big fireball

Clearly some sort of engine trouble, so no need for your Muslim reference.
Imagine going about your work day in the warehouse when a plane comes through the roof.
“Honey, you won’t believe what happened at work today!”
Makes sense. He had just taken off so probably had a full load of fuel.
“Attempted to return to airport”
Probably a classic case of engine problems after takeoff and stalled attempting to return to the runway.
A Kit aircraft. Probably some assembly problem.
“A Kit aircraft. Probably some assembly problem.”
Assembly problem? Vans are generally well built with important structural sections built at the factory. An engine problem is more likely, but who knows?
Prayers up for all involved.
It was the pilot and his 16 yr old daughter that was killed it’s not terrorist just a horrible accident

LOL...great scene. I think I read the book in the 80s, but never saw the movie.
Looks like he had several 100’s of gallons of fuel on board.
Blowed up real good.
RIP. Hopefully those injured in the building will recover. There is so much light plane traffic over densely populated towns that it’s a miracle these types of hits on buildings are rare.
“The only general aviation airport in Orange County, Fullerton Municipal Airport”
Moron journalists. What about John Wayne airport? It’s in Newport Beach, Orange County. And yes general aviation can fly out of there.
Back in the day, when I was an active aviator, I ALWAYS had a plan in case I had an engine failure on or after takeoff.
Never had an engine failure on or shortly after takeoff during my 18 years of military and civilian flying, but I ALWAYS had a plan!
In this case, it looked to me like he could have landed on the roof of that building.
That this pilot did not was tragic. RIP.
