Most of us are aware that certain habits are flat-out terrible for our hearts. Smoking? Forget about it. A sedentary lifestyle — yep, that will eventually get you.
But with diet culture still running rampant, the foods that are “good” and “bad” can feel a bit murkier. The keto diet, for example, encourages piling on the bacon. And while it may help you lose weight, something about chomping on bacon every day feels — not great.
If you’re eating with your heart health in mind (and we all should be, at least a little bit!), you can read through the American Heart Association’s diet and lifestyle recommendations. Or, if you really want to cut to the chase, you can find out which foods top cardiologists avoid 99% of the time.
While none of these foods will kill you if eaten once in a while, cardiologists say these are the foods they never, or very rarely, eat.

Linguine Caruso? I love that stuff.
“My priorities for food not to be eaten (given today’s formulations):
1. Sugar
2. Flour products (bread, noodles, etc.)
3. Other carbs (rice, potatoes, etc.)
4. Seed oils”
Whatcha got here is a diabetic diet in a nutshell.
Read the label... sugar is in ALOT of processed food... the usual suspects plus most bacon, sausages etc... Read the labels
I was on a heart health diet once.. worst 6 hours of my life.
As I sit here eating the other halfbof last nights Ribeye, some ch3ese, and sourdogh toast with home made ghee.
No sugar on the list? It’s bunk then.
The article says liver is high in trans fats. Natural foods only have small amounts of trans fats; most trans fats are industrially produced.
Animals have been eating liver and meat for hundreds of millions of years. We’re adapted to it.
It’s all a bunch of BS.

I eat very little of any of these. I will have steak every other week, and then only 4-6 Oz. Fried chicken, maybe once a month. I had bacon for the first time in years yesterday (it was great.)
I guess I am boring.
Honestly, I could live just fine without most of that list, but ditching steak is a non-starter for me. I’ll take my chances.
There are twenty three hours per day I'm not eating steak, so I avoid it most of the time.

Millennial girls at huffpo. Is there ANYTHING they do not know? lol
Ha! I like your perspective on that.
Like Spam ... baked with brown sugar, or fried, either way.

One hundred percent.
I eat ALL of those, except bologna. And even that I sometimes yearn for in the sandwich of my childhood - bologna on Wonder Bread with potato chips inside to make every bite crunch.
I just probably eat far less of them than I once did.
>>cheddar cheese perogies covered in caramelized onions
Fascinating! Never thought of that combination.
>>White Castle
Enthusiastically jumping up and down. And remembering poor husband trying to get our RV down some narrow street after spying one. A definite challenge. They’re available in the freezer section, thank goodness.
>>I believe almost nothing doctors say anymore.
After hearing some of my own doctors regurgitating liberal medical positions, I have come to agree with you. Biggest loss of faith in experts that I can remember.
