A Texas father says his four-month-old twins have been mistakenly deported along with their mother and siblings in an immigration mix-up.
Federico Arellano Jr says his wife Christina Salazar and their four kids were put on a plane on December 9 after missing a hearing with an immigration judge.
He says that he is a US Citizen - along with three of his four kids. It's unclear what Christina's status is.
Despite being born in Houston in October, the twins were sent to Mexico with their mother.
Now, Jr. is fighting to bring them all back, describing it as an ICE misunderstanding.
He said his children were crying as they and Salazar were taken into custody.
The distressed mother later told KHOU that Arellano Jr. was not allowed to say goodbye to the twins in the moment and she was unable to call for help after agents had ripped her cell phone away from her hands.
Attorneys Isaias Torres and Silvia Mintz, who are representing the family, said that Salazar was born in Mexico and married Arellano Jr. in 2019.
It's unclear how he obtained citizenship, or how long he has been living in the US.
The family believes they were harshly punished for simply missing the hearing.
Now, they are begging to be reunited.
'Because their babies are US citizens, they deserve to be here and get the attention they need - the medical attention they need,' one of their lawyers said.
'They were shocked and surprised that they were separated,' another added.
Trump and his incoming border czar Tom Homan have made no secret of their plans to implement mass deportations and family separations when they take office.
Homan makes no apologies for it either.

I've been retired for ~15 years and haven't missed a day of going to work in the dark mornings of Winter. Now I'll essentially be under home confinement for all of January [not able to run off the Montana to go skiing].
Given the pay, it's day slavery. And one has to be over 80! to get an automatic pass.
And if he really cares he should join them in Mexico.
I notice the headline makes it sound like just the twins were kicked out.
And. admittedly, I just skimmed the excerpt, but I don’t recall seeing the terms “husband” or “wife” mentioned.
Oops! I went back. They are married, apparently.
If I ever need a jury, I would prefer it to be composed of intelligent patriots.
And the sob stories begin
One day, [or] one trial worked well for me in the past.
New location, so new rules.
A month is way too long of a thumb-twiddling confinement.
The article is worthless. It doesn’t explain why they missed the hearing. Only a fool would fail to show up to a hearing of any Court, especially an immigration court hearing.
I’ve observed over the years that success in court is much like succeeding at work. Showing up gets you 3/4 of the way there, even if you’re out on the margins. If there is one thing courts don’t like is to waste their time. A one way street unfortunately, but take what you can get.
In a One Day One Trial State, you’ll get called more often ...
I agree that many jurisdictions treat jurors like crap. That doesn’t excuse ‘shirking’. People who try to get out of jury duty by any means necessary have no business complaining about the sort of decisions juries make.
Like it or not, We the People, as jurors are an important defense against governmental over-reach. Imagine if Mr. Trump had been afforded decent jurors.
“I agree that many jurisdictions treat jurors like crap.”
Not only that, there is no instruction on how broad the power of a Jury is and how to wield it effectively.
Unfortunately, the so-called Journalist for this article failed to elaborate and do actual journalism.
(1) They wrote: “It’s unclear how he obtained citizenship, or how long he has been living in the US.”
Why is it unclear? Does this journalist know how to ask questions? The whole story is misleading so-called-journalism garbage without clarity on this question and many others.
(2) They write: “The family believes they were harshly punished for simply missing the hearing.”
Why did they miss the hearing? Why was the adverb “simply” used? What are the details of DHS’s actions/deliberations start to finish on the Case(s) for these people? What about all of the steps for the hearings? What DHS forms have been processed for these people? I-130? I-485? Affidavits of Support? Others?
(3) They wrote “Now, they are begging to be reunited.”
Has the journalist enquired about the documents that provide evidence about the immigration status of the man in either the USA/Mexico or of his wife in either country? To be reunited he simply needs to head to the border with his US passport and enter Mexico.
(4) They wrote: “’Because their babies are US citizens, they deserve to be here and get the attention they need - the medical attention they need,’ one of their lawyers said.”
Where has the journalist examined US citizenship records of the babies? There’s plenty of US citizens who aren’t getting medical attention in the US or by the US government. For example, my son is a US citizen who really could’ve benefited from getting medical attention in the US, but he never stepped foot on US soil until he was 23 months old. Why not is because his mother (my wife) was waiting for her I-130 and the rest of her immigrant visa paperwork to be completed. In the meantime he got his Consular Record of Birth Abroad and US Passport. Once she had her Visa he came over & she now has Green Card, SSN, Drivers License, and all other proper documentation.
(5) They wrote: “’They were shocked and surprised that they were separated,’ another added.
Where in this article did the Journalist ever dive into the history of people being shocked and surprised when they face challenges due to missing Court hearings, such as getting Contempt of Court convictions? What do you expect if you miss your hearing(s)?
Where did the Journalist ever examine the other side? Here we have at best a very lazy journalist who hasn’t demonstrated real critical thinking skills. It’s highly probable that this so-called Journalist is dishonest.
The ENGLISH Daily Mail reporter ISHITA SRIVASTAVA ..
If the two twins at four months old were born to a naturalized citizen father on US soil they are not only US citizens they would also be natural born citizens as much as Trump is he was born to a naturalized immigrant mother on US soil. So the question is does the father hold valid US citizenship and if so then those kids at birth regardless of the 14th in USC code they are US citizens at birth, NBCs at that.
Seems like the INS let the mother have custody of them they would be free to come back at anytime to live with dad. They legally can’t be directed to leave he should sue for custody. His undocumented spouse is the issue. The left out part is she took them they didn’t force the US citizen twins to leave.
The story still doesn’t make sense to me.
***********
Like Judge Judy says, “If it doesn’t make sense, it’s not true.”
The childrens mother? They were NOT married, the kids stay with momma.
As you stated, does the father hold valid US citizenship ..when they were born
