A newly minted and massive Iranian drone carrier was captured in new satellite images sailing in the Persian Gulf this week — the ship’s first reported sighting since leaving its home port for the first time in mid-November.
The satellite images taken Thursday by commercial operator Maxar Technologies shows three Iranian drone ships in the waters off the country’s coast as theories have swirled in the US that Iran could be behind the mysterious drone sightings across the tri-state area, according to Business Insider.
Iran’s new carrier — the Shahid Bagheri — is a converted shipping container that was outfitted to support drone operations and was last seen on Nov. 12, when it was captured by satellite imagery sitting in Bandar Abbas, the report said.
The Shahid Bagheri left its home Iranian home port sometime between Nov. 12 and Nov. 28, revealed by satellite imagery that shows an empty dock where the ship once sat, according to another Business Insider report.
The new carrier was believed to have headed straight to the Persian Gulf to partake in naval exercises, the report said.
The new images from this week show the overhauled ship was pictured with two other Iranian drone vessels — Shahid Roudaki and Shahid Mahdavi — off the Bandar Abbas port in the Persian Gulf, according to NDTV.
News of the Shahid Bagheri’s whereabouts came days after speculation that an Iranian drone “mothership” was parked out in the Atlantic and was carrying out clandestine drone operations in the airspace of New Jersey and Staten Island.
Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ) claimed to Fox News on Wednesday morning that the drones were possibly being launched by Iran, citing confidential sources.

Some ask why NJ? Well, not saying this is the case, but if an invasion were to take place, NJ has some great landing beaches, and its close to NYC and Philly. Plus, there are no major naval ports there, unlike Virginia.

And what would happen if we are invaded by a hostile country, our CIC is too senile to stop it, our VP is no where to be found and we have no idea who is making the CIC decisions?
Or the earlier aircraft carriers that were repurposed colliers. I think Britian may even had taken a ship destined to be an ocean liner and finished it out as an early carrier.

How many intel satellites do we have in orbit watching every square inch of our adversary’s land 24x7? And we somehow did not watch this ship at port for SIXTEEN days? Now we’ve lost it for 17 days?
But our military leaders know exactly who is up to date on their COVID shots and I who has completed all their DEI training.
Apparently with some justification.
I posted elsewhere that the lack of action on our part is exactly what is being probed. A hostile actor could mount an impressive decapitation action if these drones were armed and over say, DC, rather than the Joisey shore.
There isn't any more sensitive optical information to be gained by 50 drones versus a handful.
I was thinking about something similar, what about the Inauguration, take out the POTUS, VP and bunch of members of Congress, Senate, and Cabinet members.
During the inauguration will need to install mini guns on both sides of Trump’s podium in case any invading drones want to interfere with the festivities.
My guess is they (DOD) are practicing defending against such scenarios.

Do they have images of the bazillion drones? Who knew drones needed a runway?
And in an era of satellite surveillance I have a hard time believing that the major powers can’t track any ship of interest 24/7.
I suspect the draft article said "container ship", and the editor or spell checker changed that term to "shipping container" for publication...
John Kirby will be one of the other many I will be happy to see disappear in the next 40 days. Simply can't happen soon enough.
Decisive and terminal action against our enemies will be a welcome change. I'd like to see Trump order the military to blow the hell out of something that needs it on January 20th just to get started with a bang and signify that we are back in a big way. What should we blast?
You mean like they practiced the withdrawal from Afghanistan or how they handled January 6th. Maybe, they are practicing by allowing an assassin to get within 150 yards from Trump and get off numerous shots or hiding out in the hedgerows of one of Trump’s golf courses, in order to shoot Trump, of course the Secret Service shot multiple times from less than 10 yards and missed each time trying to take out the 2nd assassin.
Seriously, Washington DC should be locked down tight for the inauguration, recent history suggests that might not be the case.
