Newly released images of the smiling suspect in the brutal assassination of UnitedHealthcare executive Brian Thompson have sparked wild claims online - including that he looks like two well-known movie stars.
A disturbing 'hot assassin' trend is also now spreading on social media with some ghoulish users swooning over the killer who was seen grinning at a hostel in New York.
The images were captured before the masked assassin brutally gunned down Mr Thompson, a 50-year-old father-of-two, outside the Hilton Hotel in Manhattan on Wednesday morning.
Reacting to the pictures released by NYPD yesterday, one user wrote: 'Ok is it just me or is the CEO assassin kinda hot?'
Another said: 'I hope the UHC assassin can get online and see how much we all love him and everyone finds him hot.'
People have even suggested on social media that the hooded figure bears a resemblance to Hollywood stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Timothee Chalamet.

Unfortunately, assassins and assassinations are now being popularized and trending on social media so there will be more crazy to come. Libs have now gone full psycho - if you disagree with them or they don’t like you or what you do, they’ll just ‘off’ you. There will be competitions going on to be the perfect assassin who can get away with cold blooded murder. Using Greyhound to leave N.Y. is also interesting because he can exit the bus at any one of a number of locations along the way to the busses’ ultimate destination. Now I hear they have found what is believed to be one of his backpacks. There are two ways to look at the assassin. He either is super smart or a lucky rank amateur so far. Time will tell. Are the brass casing ‘tell’ messages, the dropped burner phone, the brazen broad daylight hit, the plastic water bottle, etc., acts of a super hit man or just an amateur? That gun he used has me wondering which way it is.
