(KRON) — A Novato cyclist was killed last month after swallowing a bee while cycling. Phil Heiman was a 69-year-old former superintendent of water treatment in Marin County, according to his online obituary.
An avid cyclist, Heiman raced in road, crit and cyclocross events and would often ride his bike the 25 miles to work. After his retirement, he managed a local cycling club and was “involved for years with the close-knit cycling community,” his obituary states.

I'm thinking a swollen airway.
I was on a noon time run with some co-workers when I bee flew in my mouth and stung me. I asked my companions to keep an eye on me for a while until I knew I would be all right. Guess I was not allergic.
A bee, flea and fly in a flue
Were imprisoned, so what could they do?
Said the bee, Let us flee!
Said the flea, Let us fly!
Said the fly, Let it be!
So they flew through a flaw in the flue.
Anaphylactic shock. It kills pretty quickly without medical intervention.
I had a red wasp fly into one of the vents in my helmet and go to town on my bald head before I could stop and rip it off. Painful but...
I bet this guys body odor was horrific after riding his bike 25 miles to work. He probably won the Marin County stinky hippy award on a regular basis.

Very end? Nope.
So I guess he was allergic?
There was an old hippie who swallowed a bee
He cycled as if life was all a Grand Prix
So proud of his bod, mocked the concept of God
Until the Lord gave him a personal prod
None of his sports drink would dislodge the bee
Now only the afterlife he will see
Should have went to ski.
Probably had a bee venom allergy and his throat swelled up rapidly from the sting, before he could get medical treatment.
