(KRON) — A Novato cyclist was killed last month after swallowing a bee while cycling. Phil Heiman was a 69-year-old former superintendent of water treatment in Marin County, according to his online obituary.
An avid cyclist, Heiman raced in road, crit and cyclocross events and would often ride his bike the 25 miles to work. After his retirement, he managed a local cycling club and was “involved for years with the close-knit cycling community,” his obituary states.

Ridiculous. No one dies after swallowing a bee. It will just get digested by your stomach acids. Who writes these stupid articles.
Thank you 🙏
I had a bee go into my mouth and sting my tongue on a ride a few years ago. The sting made my tongue very painful for the rest of the day. It hurt every time my tongue moved, you would probably never believe how much your tongue moves, even when you aren’t doing anything.

If it stings you inside your mouth or esophagus and you’re allergic...
If it stings you inside your mouth or esophagus and you’re allergic...
You don't even have to be allergic if it stings your airway on the way down.
Why would a mere sting kill you? Or you mean some kind of a rupture?

Allergic reaction causing swelling that closes your air passages.
If it stings you on the way down, yes you can have a bad reaction that could indeed kill you. I got stung in the lip once, and it made me sick as hell.
