I've just seen Sen. Collins say she wants FBI background checks on Trump nominees.
WTF is going on that is overstepping the mark isn't it?
And the FBI will probably come back with some made up stuff.
President Trump is holding his fire until he is sworn in and assumes power. Then there are so many things he can do unilaterally to gore their ox.
She needs to be pulled aside and told that if she doesn’t toe the line, all of the money that would ever go to her state is G O N E.

Dear Susan- Every nominee gets a background check. Calm down and realize that you and Murky are not going to be show stoppers. 53 makes you two just the lefty idiots you are.
Oh, and even being a lefty idiot might not save you in Maine thanks to Rank Choice Voting. You avoided it last time, but the dems will figure out a way to run a faux candidate to split the vote this time and you will be out. So, enjoy while you can.
In some respects yes, but you can’t not have any background investigations at all. So have the FBI conduct them, and then give nominees a chance to counter anything that’s bogus or not verified by outside evidence.

The entire upper echelons of the FBI and CIA will be purged, as well as the woke military generals. First things first. Mandatory polygraphs as per employee agreement. Also remove all security clearances and stipulate that they cannot work for defense contractors or and company that works with those agencies.
Just announcing this hundreds will either resign or retire.

No... the FBI has shown itself to be deeply corrupt and politically aligned with one party. Their approval of something cannot be trusted, and they will excessively delay approvals until well into the summer.

After the inauguration Trump can just declare them “cleared” to whatever level he wants them to be. The chief executive has the final say. So, this is a tempest in a teapot.

I believe in background investigations, but they need to be done on everyone - presidential and vice-presidential candidates, representatives and senators. The odd part about the whole process is that all elected offices holders are conveniently exempt. Also, when you have a corrupt organization like the FBI do it, they can leave out damaging info and otherwise rig a background check. To have it done objectively it needs to be done by a two person team of investigators, one chosen by each political party.

Yeah, BS. They said Trump was a Russian spy, they said Trump and the J6ers tried to conduct an insurrection to take over the government. They said the 2020 election was free and fair. They claim white Christian nationalists are the leading threat to America. They planted evidence at Mar a Lago and got caught.
They are not honest or neutral enough to claim they merely report findings. And not to mention, this is a constitutional crisis. The FBI is a small bureau in the executive branch. Congress is insisting that the President must use this small subordinate branch before he exercises his clear right to make appointments?
Nope.
If a President or President-elect doesn't want his nominees to cooperate in a background investigations, that's his right. But it is also the right of the Senate to refuse to confirm those nominees.
That's because the actual Constitution, and the Constitution alone, sets the minimum requirements to hold the elected offices specified in the Constitution. There is no mention of a background investigation in the Constitution, so it can't be made a condition of being elected. That's the same reason that term limits are unconstitutional.
I think this maybe brilliant on Trump’s part. He has given the FBI one last chance to fly straight. They play games, start spying, etc and Trump has proven his case against them. I smell a trap, a bear trap! Good luck FBI, this is your final chance!
