I've just seen Sen. Collins say she wants FBI background checks on Trump nominees.
WTF is going on that is overstepping the mark isn't it?
The corrupt FBI gets to choose the heads of these departments. We are doomed!
If that is all she requires and will vote to confirm them all, go ahead. The candidates welcome it.
Aren’t FBI checks SOP? A lot of embarrassment could have been avoided already with FBI checks.
FBI background checks is normal pre Trump.
So her asking for them is not asking for things out of the ordinary.
Except. The FBI cannot be trusted. A possible response is . . . checks will be provided, in February, when the FBI’s bias is erased.

Yes. When the FBI has not spent the last eight years lying about Trump, wiretapping Trump, aiding lawfare against Trump, etc.
One expects the FBI to make sure that no Trump appointee who would challenge their power will be confirmed. Collins probably expects the same thing.
They’re all going to have FBI checks for security clearance. That’s the way it is.
Who cares what SHE wants. The Republicans should act as if she doesn’t exist. Because as a Republican, she doesn’t.
The FBI reports it’s findings. It doesn’t have veto power over who gets confirmed.

I’ve searched that pesky constitution thingie high and low, and I can’t find any reference to fib checks for the senate being a prerequisite for the advise and consent part that is in there...
