No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.

I believe things have settled down for Young ArGee. Her school district pushed back the start of school to Monday. I’m not sure what that means for the last day of school. But what are ya gonna do?

Hopefully an easy day today. Part came in for Abby and I got her put back together. Brake caliber bracket is rubbing a little on the new brake rotor... but this is an aftermarket rotor and is thicker than stock. Should wear in.
New tire, rotor, cush drive hub, and both bearings in the wheel itself...
Weird fact... 4 sets of bearings in a Triumph heavy weight rear wheel. 2 in the rim itself and 2 more in the cush drive hub.
Looking at either another Honda, 2001 Shadow 1100, or a 2000 Honda Valkrie... to have as a “back up” bike. At least until I can get that ‘84 Shadow up and running... Then I’d probably sell one.

Growing up we had as many as 3 dogs in the house, and in a fairly isolated but decently populated neighborhood.
Many mornings before school we had to pick up the neighbors’ garbage because our dogs had knocked over their cans and spread stuff around.
Any time we left the dogs in the back yard during a thunderstorm they would come through the porch screens and we’d have to help Dad re-screen them until we learned to take care of it ourselves.
So, yeah, dogs can be challenging.
One can never be too rich or too thin or have too many bikes.

This situation is a bit different, we are waiting for news from the vet about Guin... Mrs. zz took her back to the vet this morning as she has been throwing up ever since she got back Wednesday evening, can’t seem to keep anything in her stomach including water... Hoping and praying that they can figure out what is wrong...
I hope so and I hope you get a good diagnosis. Young ArGee’s cat was having a similar problem and the vets put her on exactly the wrong program. She wound up going to emergency care (and having her cat almost chew through her thumb) and they got her cat on the road to recovery.

They just got back, they think that she had a bad reaction to the pain shot that they gave her after her surgery on Tuesday... cause of the constant nausea... they x-rayed her to make sure all was okay inside, and drew blood...
Gave her something for the nausea, had her on IV to replenish fluids, and also gave an AB Rx to prevent any UTI from further developing...
She does seem more herself since she’s been home!
But you NEED one, amiright?

Anybody remember when tagging “All;” really DID tag everyone on the thread? It’s there. It doesn’t throw an error at you for including it, but it sure isn’t tagging All, anymore.

I got my one automotive headache resolved successfully. Then I got the next one handled. Then I went to resolve the third... oh. THAT’S not good. There are parts inside of expensive places that are SUPPOSED to be concentric, and they AREN’T. Oh so very not good at all it isn’t. But I had my cool old car as a backup plan.
But...
Then it started to really get too hot last evening, and I looked this morning and the coolant is a little bit milky, which means it’s getting oil in it, which means head gaskets need replacing, which means LOTS of downtime and wrenching on that, now, too.
SO... Gonna be a used car shoppin’ weekend...

lost the bid on the Gold Wing. Went and took a look at the Saber... Nice bike. Needs a bit of work... new rear tire and possibly swing arm bushings. Going to go back and pick it up tomorrow after work.
