No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
Are the Indians that you work with in India? I wonder if the use of British English is particular to certain castes...

Yup, that’s about what we see for 4 tires... and we are not even buying any type of high end stuff... just your basics with a reasonably long tread life expectation...

Dad has a medical issue. Won’t elaborate here... but no fishing with Dad...
Also... Got the rear tire off the bike... Cush drive is toast. Wheel bearings are ok... cush drive bearing ate itself. Bought a replacement off eBay. Will take another week to get the parts...
I feel... bereft... Like a part of me is missing...
I have another bike, but it’s still having issues and isn’t driveable either...

They,re all in the US, but still speak English the way they did at home.
NYC won’t allow them to work from India for more than a few weeks at a time to accommodate vacations. And then it has to benefit NYC.

I think whoever has the relativity machine has things backwards. We need slower weekends and faster weeks. I’m really not ready for Monday - as evidenced by the strange punctuation in the previous post.
Anyway, we had a dry enough Sunday that I could mow the lawn. The foreguess was for a tiny amount of rain this evening so I watered the grass this morning. Now it’s pouring and thundering. So I guess that’s my fault.
Also, we got the tent for the generator set up on Sunday so now we won’t have any power outages for another several years.
Wordle was so-so today.

Managed to get some stuff done over the weekend. Mostly home projects and yardwork. Never did make it out fishing. Now I have a couple cartons of nightcrawlers I’m not sure what to do with. They are semi-dormant in my garage fridge... so they’ll keep a while. But I should make a decision by this weekend if I’m going to just add them to the compost pile and let them run free...

Do you have a large flat Tupperware container that you can put some soil and wet cardboard in… dump them in there and you can dig them out when you need them…
