No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
Which doesn't mean we can't complain about it, right? 😁

That reminds me... Pete’s fold up cot is still out in my garage. It’s been there for about 8 years... when they went camping in a cave and EVERYTHING was coated in cave mud.

Reminds me of when Moses and Jesus played golf with an old man.
With a wide water hazard right across the fairway just 50yd from the tee, Moses hit a “worm burner” but quickly held out his rod, the waters parted, and his ball skittered across and up onto the far shore into the fairway.
Jesus plopped his tee shot in the drink, but walked out, reached down into the pond, drew out his ball, and made a regulation ball drop on the shoreline.
The old man shanked his tee shot way off into the middle of the pond. A moment later an eagle swooped out of the sky and snatched a fish out of the water. Soaring away, it was suddenly struck by a bolt of lightning and plummeted to the ground, landing right on the green. On impact, a golf ball popped out of the mouth of the fish, and rolled into the cup just a couple feet away.
Jesus looked at the old man and said, “Nice, shot, Dad.”

I realized about halfway through the day yesterday that it was only Wednesday. Ungh!
We still have mild temps in the morning and warm during the day. I’m looking forward to one of these rain foreguesses not vanishing as the day arrives.

I know what that is like, we went through a few months earlier in the year when the foreguesses were great a week out, and kept disappearing as the days came closer...
Starting to think these online auction houses, where you have to pay an annual subscription fee just to bid, are a scam. 100%...
Was biding on a wrecked Harley and it turns out there are different levels of bidding access you can “buy” for additional fees and that the professional scrappers and resellers are heavily weighted against public bidding.
All I really wanted was the motor/trans, wiring, brakes, and some other miscellaneous bits... But the bidding quickly exceeded my accounts limits to a point where I’m calling “shenanigans”... “Working bike” bid price for something that cannot be fixed.
*sigh*
At least this worked out well...
