No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
Happy Friday...
Moving a client downtown today. From one floor to a different floor in the same building. 2 engineers for 2 two days... They don’t have that much gear. Should be done today before dinner.
18th hole... Solid shot off the tee that cleared the worst of the swamp rough. Needed a bit more distance on the second shot and the 3 wood came in clutch... although it did drop me on the downhill side of the green. Long up hill putt to finish the hole in 3...

w00t! Congrats on the 00 post!
Good round, looks like we are tied at 5 under... ⛳️
We got under the desks for earthquake drills, too, so at least it was efficient.
With today’s schoolhouse shenanigans, I shudder at the thought of what could be seen “underneath the desk”!
With today’s schoolrooms I wonder what exists to get underneath.
It’s Friday.
And that’s all that matters.
Best drive of the round off this 18th tee. Held it nicely left away from the incursion of glowering ents. Lie for my second shot was just shy of where the far fairway necks down to nearly nothing. With the flag planted in the nearer lobe of the green, and the aptly-named Valley of Sin beyond, I gambled on a 5-iron shot to make the approach to the green near the tree to the left, and the ball went just a bit past that and left me a chip and a put from par. I drew a 9 to loft the ball to the green and was pleased to see it drop on just shy of the pin, make one short hop, and roll into the cup for a Birdie.
After a fairly miserable front nine, I close out the back end with two Birdies and an Eagle to notch a 6-over 77.

Reading about Your golfing experiences causes me to believe You should be, if You aren’t, Pro.
Very good recovery in the back nine! ⛳️
Indeed!
At my level of play, finishing under 80 is Divine Intervention.
Well Wordle Golf is one thing... if I had to tackle that course with real clubs and a box of balls, I would be pleased as punch to break 100 with my level of rust...
Good morning. Happy Monday!
We had a nice soaking rain most of Saturday, but it only came up to about .25” I’ve found an app that will tell me the past rainfall for an area, so that’s helpful. But it won’t help much this week. A heat wave is guessed with highs in the 100s. It looks like I picked the wrong week to have new grass seed down. But some green is coming up, so things are going well I guess.
I got a little lazy at Wordle today and used 2 words that had already won just to get something useful. I feel fortunate to have gotten this one in 5.

For the record, we have played at Royal County Down, Bethpage Black, Mt. Snow, Pebble Beach Golf Links, PGA West, Ponte Verde, and The Quarry prior to this excursion... one can say that we certainly have gotten a round...

Happy Monday...
Friday at client site went well. Got them moved in 1 day instead of 2.
Spent most of Saturday just riding around. A bit under 5 hours total... Picked up a nice sunburn... Was a good reminder to get outside more often.
Yesterday was kind of a wash weather wise... storms in the morning and later again in the evening. Gave me an opportunity to just fix some stuff around the house. Bent door striker on a screen door that has been bugging me, some paint touch up, finally finished shampooing the rest of the stairs and carpet on the lower level... Things of that nature.
