No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
Not sure I had the same word then for Wordle. Mine was “CURRY”.
Having chicken green masala curry for dinner tonight...
High score for raw determination.
Afternoon, all. This morning I joined Sally and Georgia for a visit to Walmart, because Amma is always at Walmart, it seems. Then I cooked the stuff from Walmart.
Vlad’s making a tuna casserole. Frank was going to mow the lawn, but he forgot to recharge the mower battery.
I still recharge my mower with a liquid. But I need to plug in the battery for the weed-whacker.
I would like to just get a couple of goats instead of mowing, but apparently the neighbors aren’t thrilled with the idea.
We’re not allowed to have farm animals in our subdivision.
It has been a rough round...
Ahh, yes, I feel like one of those Homer Simpson D’oh!!
I was trying to decipher a dinner item out of the text description of your play on that hole... a Wedge Salad... a “Par” (thinking that it was some foreign dish that I wasn’t familiar with...)...
I totally didn’t consider the Wordle solution....
D’oh!!
G’Afternoon... back from shopping and glad to be...
It can be exhausting. Vlad is mowing the lawn now. Frank said he was going to do it tomorrow, but oh, well. Should have been more prompt.
Foggy morning in the upper 50’s. Sunny by lunchtime with a breeze off The Bay and a high that never broke 70.
“Summer” has many faces out this way.
Relentless. Found the sand right off the tee, but it was a beautiful shot in all other respects. My pitch out didn’t. So I had the pleasure of a second try, which left me with a long put trying to even notch a Bogie. Iput enough into it that it had the distance, but began to fade off to the left as it neared the cup, and just pooped out right there to the side of the lip. If you’d have stomped hard it would’ve fallen in.
Off to the 16th with 68 strokes on my card.

That’s so pretty! Cats love sunsets. Ours always saunter to the bed in our room when the sun sets because that’s the best place to watch the show.
My cat in HI made sure to be on the screen porch to watch sunsets over the ocean.
My mom used to place towels in strategic spots around the house so that her cat could always be in the best sun for the time of day. “Sassy is lounging on the beach,” she would say in the morning.
That’s cute. Our cats always get the best seats in the house and Heaven help anyone who tries to move them.
Good morning. Happy Humph Day!
I got the morning grass watering done in about 40 minutes. Not bad. I have 7 “zones” to water every day. I got 4 done this morning so 3 every evening. I can probably make that work with my evening schedules.
Am I supposed to be this busy at my age? I guess if I were a farmer I would be saying, “You call this busy?”
My first drive went pretty straight for me. I hooked it just a little to lie left on the fairway just before that mid-field bunker. Because I was so close to the trees on the left I had to make a shorter drive to the right to have a line on the green. My 3rd drive landed me nicely on the green about midway between the lip and the cup. The putt was long-is but I got a good break off the grass for 4.

Beautiful pic of the sunrise, and a nice looking cat to boot!
It was, with the heat and high humidity...
It is amazing how variable your Summer weather can be...
Good Midweek Morning!
Looking forward to a bit drier air starting next week.... 🤞🏻

Off the tee on 16 I didn’t get anywhere close to the fairway bunker but at least stayed near the center of the fairway...Had a decent second shot with my 2 wood that got me slightly short of, and to the right of the big oak on the left... a nice swing of the 8 iron got me on the apron...
A long putt over the super low grass on the apron got me near the hole... near enough to tap in for the Par 5...
