No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
The neighbor has a fire pit in their back yard. It turns out they like to burn the brush from the tree stand behind our houses in it. Mrs. ArGee was discussing this with the Basement Guy and about how they’re not always sitting right by the fire pit with hoses ready. Basement Guy was surprised that anyone still does that.
This weekend, the people across the street were burning brush (or something) in a fire pit they have beside their house. It’s bigger and a little deeper than the neighbors, and they were all standing around tending it.
I guess it’s more surprise for Basement Guy if we have to work with him again.
Understand, not only do we live in a Township that has governing rules, but we also have a Township compost site that is free to dump your brush in. So people really don’t need to burn it here.
Supposed to hit 65 this afternoon, but then 30’s-40’s the rest of the week with snow flurries possible EVERY day after today.
This is because I put my snowblower away over the weekend and have my HD frame and fenders outside for painting... It turns out this “color shifting” paint is actually kind of a garbage paint. Luckily, it looks good in the spots were it won’t be hidden by other parts of the bike...

some of the things they can do with the various types of 3D printing are kind of amazing.
I always keep an eye on any burn piles... and have a water hose within reach... never can tell...
It is... someday I may have the time to give it a try...
Pretty appealing advice sometimes.
Good morning. Happy Twosday!
That’s one wee floof! Is that a dog it’s laying against?
It was almost 60 fs when I walked The Princess today. The guessed high is 78. This is a warm Holy Week here.
I guess an unforced error on guess 2 is becoming par for the Wordle course for me. Another 2 runs gives me 4 for the Over.

I think it’s a vinyl or leather cushion.
Good morning. Similar weathers here today, but it’s more “seasonal” for us. I’d like to be warm for a few days.
That kitten is as small as Guin was when we got her!
Good Morning!
Rain to start Wednesday night into Thursday.... so they say... 🤞🏻
Sacrificial row two worked out...

I believe that hit gives me 3 runs today, and 6 for the Over...
My row 2 wasn’t sacrificial, just dumb. In fact, while I was trying to guess row 3 I still had it in my mind that the 3rd letter was in the wrong place on my first guess. But I finally figured that out.
Maybe I need stronger coffee.
Tuesday. 35 degrees with rain on the way. At least I got my deck pressure washed. Once things warm up/dry out again... I can go ahead and re-seal the wood.

I often do that in the other direction... I treat a yellow letter from row one as being in the right place and it comes up yellow again!! 🙃
What product do you use on your deck wood?
Whatever is on sale. The multi-year “protectants” are anything but “multi-year”.
Something like this.
Maybe just visit.
