No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
I was wondering... are there any products that can be used in 3D printing to make parts that are as strong and durable as a common metal?
Good Morning!
Hope that everyone has something nice going on for the weekend... we have a very cool day here... but warming up again tomorrow...

I believe that hit gives me 3 runs today, and 13 for the Over...
I went out to the Scout camp to run the archery range this morning. Nice time had by all, although it was a little cold and windy.
Some. Yes. The machines are expensive right now. There are aircraft turbine blades that are 3D printed. They’ve vastly improved what they can do over Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) that was the original for metal.
I think Defense Distributed once 3D printed an entire 1911 pistol once... including the barrel. Pulled the parts out of the printer, and other than the springs and ammo, were able to assemble a fully functioning pistol.
I think there is another that uses a deposition of metal using either an electrical arc or a laser... but I haven’t looked that deep in to it in a while. If I can ever find pre-seed money for my space start-up business, it’s on my “this would be really nice to have” list.
Most of what I’ve been doing is on an Ender 3 Pro that I’ve done a number of upgrades on including spool handling, additional Z stepper motor, upgraded control board, upgraded hotend, etc... I can print in a nylon that is fairly strong.
I didn’t get in to share this yesterday. 2 today gives me 11 for the Over.

That sounds nice... fresh air and all!
So, in theory, if you had the exact dimensions, you could have printed those cups?
I got there today in a very roundabout manner...

Very fresh! By 11 or so, it was pleasant out in the sunshine when we all wandered about the field looking for arrows.
We were surprised by frost overnight here, and the county texted everyone to say there’s a burn ban and they really mean it, they’ll arrest you if you have a fire, even in a fire pit.
Would have been easier on a lathe... but yes.
Not with the printer I have... but this one would have worked.

Good morning. Happy Monday.
We’re starting a warming trend for Holy Week. They’ve guessed it will be in the 70s for Easter.
We talked to a second landscaper and are awaiting his estimate. We put in some questions to the first landscaper yesterday and he’s already responded. We should have that nailed down shortly.
The Natural Lawn people started Saturday. Hopefully that will help us rebuild our lawn without chemicals that might hurt The Princess.
After a stupid mistake in guess 2 I really thought I had this one in 3. Two runs to start this Over.

Ya, our burn ban is still on... makes sense... too windy, too dry, and no rain to speak of... hopefully that changes this week! 🤞🏻
Looks amazing to me! 😮
That is a nice looking cat!
Good Monday Morning!
My BIL and I went up to Oklahoma yesterday to get a nice 2 year old Aberdeen... long drive but she survived the travel well...
Hoping that your lawn greens up nicely...

I think it’s pretty.
Not much chance of rain here in the next week.
I actually enjoy salty black licorice as well...
