No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
The sheer complexity of the scheming was endless, only the superficial layer of which is expressed in the eyes, sometimes.
It must be nice to know that you’ll still be feeding them after you pass away...

I have done any more Wordles, but I will...when I have a little time to myself.
Right now, I’m trying to prepare for the visit of the Other Folks. They’re supposed to be landing soon in Vegas, but it seems their flight has been delayed for a while. If they get in too late, I won’t be seeing him in time for church tomorrow.
I’ll wait and see how the rest of the afternoon goes.

Evening. We put up the Christmas tree. DP and the kids went shopping. Tomorrow is Patrick’s birthday. He wants to go out for hamburgers.

I won’t be putting up the tree this year. I don’t have any space for it.
I had a couple of ladies from the church visit me yesterday. Later on, one of them brought me some homemade bread. Yummy!

I didn’t want to get up, but maybe I’ll feel better after I shower.
The Other Folks arrived at the “Bloomington Flophouse” at about 2215 last night, but FS was kind enough to keep me posted throughout the journey. They left Little Rock 45 minutes late, so I hope they were able to make up the time to Vegas and didn’t get in too much later.
He’ll be here about 0820 today. I’m excited to see him. I have no idea what the plans are after today, but I’m ready!

We had to move furniture around to get the tree up, as always, but it will be okay for a couple of weeks.

Shower is done and I do feel better. I’ll listen to one uplifting talk, then put my makeup on and see how much time I have before my chauffeur comes to escort me to the Christmas program!
The bread that Tracy made keeps calling to my nose...”smell me, then you’ll have to eat me!” My mouth really wants to!!
I hope the Christmas program is very enjoyable. We’re slipping in one of our Navidad showpieces at the end of Mass, which officially ends when the priest reaches the back of the church. We’ll do some more next Sunday.

Was busy with kids stuff. Went to the Danger Committee show last night. It was fantastic, as usual.
Evening, DC. It’s Patrick’s birthday (23) and we just had cake. Maybe we’ll pull ourselves together to play a game, or maybe we’ll watch TV.
