No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
Never the cheap rug from Ollies. Always the stinking expensive rug. Which is why it hangs on the wall now.
Good move.
I had a rug with fringe on both ends. Shannon diligently chewed all the fringe off and threw it up on various carpets.
Merry Christmas TC and may You and Yours have a New Year abundant in blessings bestowed by God.
May You and Yours have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!
Thank you, and the same to you and your family!
May you and yours have the same, and a great 2026!
Good morning. Happy Monday!
I had to run the old modem to the UPS store and get the Princess her water yesterday. The only place around here that carries the water in the bottles we like is Target. So I got pretty much mugged by Christmas crowds at both places.
The Princess still has an upset tummy. It’s going up and down this time instead of just hanging on or just going away. She’s going to meet a local vet today. Maybe they’ll have some good ideas, although Mrs. ArGee doesn’t want to change her diet if she can help it.
After such a terrible Wordle week last week the weekend and today were good. I think I may have found an acceptable 2nd guess when all the letters in my first guess are misses.

Good Monday Morning!
Arthur isn’t all that pleased with the little cone around his head that prevents him from licking his incision, but he seems to be recovering well... only part of the instructions that are impossible for little dogs like him are: “no running and jumping...” pretty much impossible unless he is kept in his crate...
I thought that I was going to blow up on this one:

Just wondering: are you cooking her food with the same bottled water that she is used to drinking? Just wondering if different water may be affecting her stomach? Hopefully the vet will think of something... 🤞🏻
Happy Monday... First Day after the Solstice. From here to Midsommer, the days lengthen...

I too need to make it to the UPS store today. Get my kids Christmas gifts mailed.
I’ll be having to go to the UPS Store but not until after Christmas... I’ve been in the process of making these wooden Christmas Tree trays as gifts this year... already told my one son that his won’t be done until after Christmas and am waiting on other son to complete their move to Nebraska in January before sending it... And, I just realized that I need 9, not 8... at least I have plenty of wood...
Ah, the Cone of Shame.
We used a onesie that’s designed for a pup that keeps the tongue at bay.
I only have a couple of Cards with gift cards inside them. Put them all in one envelope and ensure it for the amount on the gift cards...
Tonight, I wrap the gifts for the rest of the inlaws and outlaws and pack everything for the short trip to Mom and Dad’s... Still in the house I grew up in.
I thought of that. I supposed Poland Spring could be locally sourced water marketed with a common label. But right now we’re looking at other ideas. We are using store brand vegetables, but from a different store. But it’s been over a month.
I’m with you on having an imaginative vet.

Mrs. zz ordered him one of those but it is way too small…
Nice to be able to return home!
Good idea to send them like that versus USPS….
Haha! I have to check the bill to see what they charged…
I don’t think the paper plate based one would work for him!
