No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
Good Morning!
They are promising the the sun will appear later today... I hope that they are correct... 🤞🏻
Hopefully The Princess will be feeling better soon...
So-so on the Wordle front today...

I made a stupid (throwaway) guess on row 3, and it turned out to be a ‘word.’ 🙃
Good morning. 50 and cloudy here, 55 and cloudy later. Eventually, it will rain. I suppose I should get my trip to the library and the bank going sooner rather than later.
I hope the Princess is all better soon!
Is today Thursday?
I guess that explains why all my neighbors had the trash bins out on the curb... I lost track. Was up until almost 1 AM last night working on my book again. Filling in dialogue and fleshing out roughed in paragraphs trying to figure out how I’m going to get over a particular plot point that is central to the ending I wanted...

I suppose you’re one of those purists who would object to a unicorn suddenly appearing to move the plot forward.
Magic narwhal maybe, but not a unicorn.
It’s a sci-fi/fantasy genre, so it wouldn’t be too out of place. My anti-hero/not-quite-a-bad-guy that helps, sort of, the main characters is a 7’ tall Joker-type figure with chromed eyes anda troop of circus performers/assassins that may, or may not, be on the side of the Big Bad Guy...
Joker meets Greek Titan. What could go wrong?
I’m worried such a being may actually exist.
I tried getting Grok to generate an AI photo of him with increasingly detailed descriptions and it refused to get anywhere close to what I was telling it...
Wait. Did I post that or has the Joker invaded Gemini?
The bells on his shoes and tricorn do not chime brightly, but instead have a sonorous and discordant resonance. His voice sounds like a highly processed auto-tune and can slide from a basso profundo and a shrill soprano while maintaining unsettling harmonics not possible with merely human vocal cords.
He's the single Consort to the Dragon. A female of surpassing beauty... mostly human formed, but with butterfly fine silver scales on her skin, white eyes with reptilian pupils, and the ability to shift her shape into a huge silver/white European-style dragon. Immensely powerful.
They have one living child.
Did they sacrifice the rest?
Some were lost, some assassinated, some eaten by predators... etc...
Did you ever read any Michael Moorcock? Eternal Champion books? Something like that in this Universe. A realm of stagnant law and order, a realm of chaos and change, and all of the rest of the Universe making up the middle.
The Jester and the Dragon rule the Chaos...
SUPPOSEDLY “The Storm Door” is opening up this weekend and San Francisco will get hosed down in time for Christmas.
Supposedly. Lots of clamor to that effect, but we’ve heard it all before.
TODAY is my LAST day in the office until the second full week of January. Got plans to hugely declutter and reorganize my house over the Holidays. Plus, I need enough time off to forget everything and come back completely fresh.
Today’s Wordle... Staring at that second row, and it suddenly just came to me.

Best wishes for a happy break from work! I have some plans regarding my house during the break from activities, too.
👍🏼
Enjoy your time out of the office!
Switched computers... this one has my character sketches and outline notes on it...
For the Dragon...
Dragon – Ruler of the Chaos/Dark realm. As tall as the Jester with silvery skin, inhumanly perfect female form, delicate horns, fine veined thin… but fully functional wings, and a whip-like tail. Skin has an iridescent tracery of fine scales. Can literally suck the warmth out of the room. Gets her power directly from her Realm and may actually be a manifestation of the Realm itself. Jester’s significant other…
For the Jester...
Infinite Jester – antagonist Dark-sider. More chaotic than true evil. Possibly one of Loki’s many alternate ID’s/offspring. Prone to puns, impractical/deadly jokes, random acts of creation. In his undisguised form, he wears an elaborate motley or Domino that is constantly shifting colors. 7’ tall. Bass voice with elaborately sonorous tones. Mellifluous and overly rounded. Slanted elfen eyes with iris’ that appear mirrored or chromed.
The Jester has a group I’ve dubbed the Milieu Circus. Interesting bunch of freaks. The Ringmaster is Barnabas Von. “Bass voice that can sometimes provide it’s own distortion and echo effects. Dark as a Nubian but cheerful as a charcoal Santa Claus.”
I haven’t read anything that fanciful. Most of the Sci-Fi I read as a child wasn’t in the Science-Fantasy genre.
Nice job on the Wordle.
I couldn’t stand 2 weeks off. It’s not in my nature. Besides, I collect over 100 emails a day. Wading through that? No thanks.
Good morning. Happy Friday!
We had rain yesterday evening and wind like crazy this morning. The Princess thought the house was going to fall in.
There’s just a spot of water where we have signs of leakage from when we weren’t here, so next on my list is basement repair. What fun!
At least the heater hasn’t stopped heating again.
I redeemed my Wordling skills on the last day of the owrk week. I had to use a known wrong word on guess 2 just to get something to work with.
