No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
Good morning. Here’s to a better afternoon.
I hate colds. I don’t get them very often. A while back my B-I-L cam in very sick and I wound up catching that “razor sore throat” thing that was going around. That was the right name for it.
I guess it’s too far to make Frank walk uphill in the snow both ways from school?
I know, right?
All that to illustrate, though, that we’re nowhere NEAR “finished” with this thread, unless we choose to be.
We just don’t get enough snow here, or have enough hills.
Clouding up about The Bay in readiness for a damp day tomorrow, or so the Seers claim.
Lots of Pubahs in town from other National Labs reviewing our progress on our major upgrade project as the system surveils itself.
For dryness, until you get your topical sensitivities sorted out — Baby Oil. Very basic. Very light. Inexpensive. Unlikely to be an irritant.

They made you work for that one, didn’t they.
To the bitter end. LOL!
Indeed!
Exactly!
I suppose that it was a transition from the older ‘model!’
Just made it!
We are supposed to see some dampness for several days starting tomorrow... 🤞🏻
I always thought that was a Polish airplane until I saw one as a teen...
Groan!
Good morning. Happy Friday Eve!
Why you haz cat bed? We no needz cat bed!
27 fs when walking The Princess this morning. But I think the low humidity helps quite a bit. I can start saying, “But it’s a dry cold.”
I went to the supermarket to find the 99% lean ground turkey we put in The Princess’ food. I found 5 of the 6 Mrs. ArGee sent me for, so it wasn’t bad. I got both of our phones set up with rewards cards, so that’s a good thing.
I had to get gas while I was out. The gas in town is 20 cents more than the gas here, which is strange because it’s less than 10 minutes to town. Go figure. I thought it would be more expensive here. Maybe it’s just a matter of timing.
I got surprised on my 3rd Wordle guess. I actually used a throw away word on guess 2 because I was running out of ideas.

Good Morning All!
The promised rains should be coming later today... 🤞🏻 and today’s high temp could be the last one in the 80s for some time...
I almost always get gas at the HEB supermarket, I was a bit shocked as the price went up $0.50/gal since last week... what is going on?
So-so on the Wordle front...

Good Morning... Happy Thursday!
42F this AM, but wet... No snow yet, thank the Gods. A couple of remote meetings and then I need to go pick up my $115 jetski... PIcked up the trailer last night... Two hour drive down there to get it, but it’s actually a very nice single PWC (personal water craft) trailer. Not new, but has new LED lights and a new cable winch. Stopped and checked the wheel bearings twice on the way home, didn’t heat up at all meaning the wheel bearings are well greased and not failing.
Could be a very good day indeed...

Sounds like a good day.
I’m going to be spending the next few weekends taking care of stuff. The garage needs to be reorganized. I kept F-I-L’s walk-behind mower which means I have one to get rid of. The furniture we’re keeping in our basement for young ArGee needs to be organized. Water has come into the basement from 2 windows so I need to find an expert for that.
After all that I can think about possibly doing something interesting.
😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
