No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
w00t!
Good Monday Morning!
It looks like we finally have been able to nail down the date for F-I-L’s memorial service... it will be in mid-January so hopefully all will have time to plan, hopefully bad weather won’t be an impact.... 🤞🏻
Been some tough sledding on the Wordle front... lots of 5s thrown in there... a bit better today...

They’ve been tricky... I have gotten a few of those ‘only the first letter off’ ones lately... and it means that I am learning new words!
Good morning. I hope everything goes smoothly. Over the last 20 years, my family has taken to having memorial gatherings at a convenient time and location, rather than “on the spot,” so to speak.
Thanks, yes, that is what we are aiming for here... convenient time and location... last evening we got the date nailed down, now hoping that the chosen location will be available.... 🤞🏻
Ugh... Monday’s...

The dead has rose.
I think I can face the day, but right now, it’s colder than when I got up at 0150. I hate trying to start the car on these cold mornings because I don’t know how much anti-freeze is in the radiator. I don’t need to crack the block when I try to start the Raisin, for sure!
I haven’t even bought any anti-freeze, but I think I’d better buy some when I get groceries. Then go immediately to Casey’s and have him or Justin take care of it. Same goes for windshield washer fluids.
I’m having Second Breakfast, then going in to hang up the clothes.
I’m going to the library and Walmart.
Finding words when you now the last 3 letters can be extremely painful.
I agree with you about starting cars on cold mornings. But even when I have plenty of Auntie Freeze I still don’t like it because it takes the car time to warm up.
Not quite a “Lego stuck in your shoe” kind of painful... but yeah.
They’ve been tricky of late...
Hopefully you can get the antifreeze in soon!
🤞🏼
Yeah, I don’t like that part of it either. I’d love to have a car that I could start from inside the house and then send me a message when the interior was warm enough to drive in, but I don’t think they make those yet!
Still, I need to have someone check out the stuff who knows what he’s doing. So when I get the antifreeze, I’ll just mosey on down to Casey’s and have them take care of it. If I have my own fluids, they won’t charge me my first-born.
I know nothing about the history of the car, other than he used it in some off-roading of some kind, so I don’t know when anything is due. I keep better records than he did, so whoever has it after me will at least be able to see what I’ve done.
Yeah, because these 32°/29° temps have a tendency to scare me a little. I need the car to be running properly, not sitting in the parking lot with a cracked block!
I would love to go to Walmart, but I can’t walk around it like I want to. Although, maybe I should try, and see if I can loosen up those lower back muscles.
Plus, that’s when the zombies always attack.
Right you are!!
I forgot to ping Darks to #516 and #518.
