No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
Fall is definitely falling, as are the first of the yellowing leaves. It may hit 98F today, but the trees never lie about what season it’s getting to be.
This is why Jesus, in speaking of seasons, referenced how a fig tree behaves, not the more variable aspects of weather like temperature.
I’d say something droll, but can’t without giving this one away.

Very true about the trees....
Lol!
Good morning. Happy Friday Eve!
It isn’t a proper cleaning without licking.
We’ve settled into a rhythm of no real deadlines for now. That will all change once we get a closing date and can actually plan for our move.
It was back down to 50 fs when I walked The Princess this morning, but the high is guessed at 80. That’s quite a swing. We’ll see what comes of it.
I finally broke my 5 streak at Wordle, but not by much.

Good Morning!
Not much to report on the weather front... maybe some rain will come early next week... just enjoying the sun while it shines...
I was surprised that today’s word wasn’t already used... I thought that it was...

Will you walk to the client site?
I could have... Supposed to rain though, so I drove the Caddy. It’s not that “high falootin’”... being a beige (they call it ‘gold’) 4-dr hatchback from 2004...
But it gets me there.
One of the few nice things about living in NYC is how easy it is to get in lots of steps every day. Walking to work is one of those.
I’ve been to NYC twice...
... that was more than enough. I’m not a fan of big cities at all.
Nor am I. The entire time I lived there I was talking about when we could leave. But there are some advantages.
Discovering you’re out of toothpaste at 11:00 pm and walking a block to the store to buy some more was definitely a benefit.
However, I remember one guy who was new to the City telling about his first trip to the supermarket. He got to the sidewalk with his cart full of grocery bags and then thought, “How am I going to get this home?”
I've wondered about that...
You learn very quickly to buy for a few days at a time - only as much as you can carry for a few blocks.
I have no idea what they did during the scarcity during the COVID lockdowns.
Note: No kitteh Saturday and Sunday due to camping trip.
Prayers for much enjoyment and safety.
Thank you. Please direct prayers specifically regarding weather!
We have a cabin at the state park, so it’s really partial camping. We’ll have to cook outdoors, and it would be nice if it wasn’t pouring rain.
