No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
Things are good. My granddaughter is almost a year old. The major repair projects at my house will be over when someone comes to get the remaining supplies out of the driveway, and until then, we’re not paying them.
I bought a new Honda Accord and sold my Big Van.
I hope you are doing well, too!
Good morning. Happy Monday!
We iz going, right?
Well, we got the last of the things out of the estate home except the lawnmower. That may still be needed. The realty company we used has a van they said we could borrow. We scheduled it for Saturday and were told “you can’t miss it.” Well, there was no van there and the person at the desk didn’t find it either. After a lot of phone calls I did a walkabout and found it. It wasn’t visible from any door to the realty office but it was in its “new” spot. Now that agent knows where to look for it.
We were expecting a cargo van or something. It was actually a 24 foot truck. That was a little overkill for a bed frame and its matress and box springs, but it got the job done.
Mrs. ArGee has a phone appointment with the SSA today. She never earned enough credits for her own social security or medicare so she has to be added to my account. She’s not happy that she’s a “dependent” and she’s not happy that she has to do this with a phone call. But that’s gubmint being helpful.
I never finished the Wordle yesterday. After 2 guesses I completely forgot about it. Oh, well. I don’t have an account so I’m not tracking my streak anyway. It probably would have been as bad as today’s.

After 2 guesses I completely forgot about it.
That happened to me on a Sunday almost a year ago...
Good Monday Morning!
Pretty nice weekend... blend of relaxation and getting a few things done... carved out the time to make a big batch of potato salad to go with the ribs that Mrs. zz prepared for last evening...
Got lucky on row 2 with another ‘sacrificial’ word...

Now I’m all hungry.
Nice job on the Wordle.
👍🏻
They were tasty!
Found something out rather concerning about myself over the weekend... If I go to an event like a fair or amusement park... I actually have more fun by myself than if I'm hauling my kids along with me.
No fighting. No indecision. No complaints... Just doing what I want to do when I want to do it as many times as I want to...
Went to the RenFaire over the weekend... kids were supposed to go with me, but they aren't talking to me right now. Was there the entire day and had a fantastic time.
Ugh... life.

I can sort of relate to that... as I am not much of a “people person.”
But hopefully things with the kids sort themselves out soon...
Two trips to Sturgis by myself... camping trips, by myself... Now this trip to the RenFaire...
I only have to worry about my OWN happiness for a change. It feels good, but weird.
The same cat who does that will grab hold of the door frame and yowl like someone is skinning them alive if you try to take them out of the house.
People talk about how their cats sneak outside. Ours don't. The moment the door opens they run for the furthest side of the house. A screen-less window is a source of terror.
Ginger and Maryann, the Barn Cats, look in at them and call them sissies.
Sometimes what "we" wanted is completely different then what "I" wants now.
Glad that you are finding things that you enjoy.
I almost missed you, Moose. I don’t always read through the weekend posts.
How are things? Are you allowed to post what you think?
Good evening ArGee,
Things are interesting to say the least.
1641,,, just reading a random date.
If it wasn’t for DJT and co we’d now be….1641.. that date just keeps cropping up.
The inter thingy surveillance is now fully active and AI .
Over ten thousand people got a visit for having an opinion last year, no sign of any changes yet.
Hope you and yours are okay.
Back soon. :)
I’m in the same situation as Mrs. ArGee vis-a-vis SS and Medicare. At this point, it doesn’t look like I’m going to be able to bail out of my current life and go work for wages, so I just have to accept it.
Hopefully that acceptance doesn’t come with a penalty every month for the rest of your life.
And hopefully we won’t have to pay that either.
Good morning. Happy Twosday!
We had warm enough temps yesterday I almost put the fan on. It looks like it will be that way for the rest of the week.
We had to cancel the homeowners policy the in-laws had because they don’t live in the home any more. We got an insurance company to cover the house until we close. Last week they walked the property and decided we have to take some tree limbs down to keep coverage. They’ve given us until late October to take care of it.
We’re hoping for a closing date before then so the new owners and their insurance company can deal with it.
As the late ‘Face would say, if it ain’t one darn thing it’s two darn things.
Another 5 spot on the Wordle today. My fourth guess wasn’t very American but it gave me enough hints to get the correct word.

This may be our last week of highs in the low 90s... I’m sure that we will get an extra warm day here and there, but it looks like Fall is setting in...
After a lot of elimination, row 3 was a pretty lucky guess...
