No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
w00t!
Thanks... stumbled in to that one!
Good morning. Happy Friday!
Kitteh comfort is very important.
It was 54 fs when I walked The Princess this morning. It’s August, right? Isn’t it August? I guess this would make sense in the southern hemisphere but it’s certainly not normal here.
There was no photo shoot at the homestead yesterday due to rain. They’re going to try again today.
Another Wordle where the answer wasn’t that strange, my mind just wouldn’t go there for a while.

Our black kitty sits with her paws crossed most of the time. She looks very prim and proper.
Good Friday Morning!
Wow, 54° F sounds pretty chilly for an August morning! Our overnight lows haven’t dropped below the low 70s for quite some time, and probably won’t several more weeks...
It took a while after row 3... then finally came to me...

Happy Friday ya’all...
I’ve been wondering if I’m done with Wordle but I’ll feel like a bit of a wimp if I stop.
Yup... assuming ‘valid’ words are used, which is not always the case, it is the interplay between the starter and the solution.... of course luck can also be a factor....
I am a Wordle addict... I will only stop when the game is discontinued....
I’ll tell you, I really didn’t want to guess “sassy” when I knew the word had one s and one a but not where those went. I finally figured I’d at least probably learn where the s and a went and test for a y. When it won, I had a little of “where’s the fun in that?
Perhaps something equally cerebral, but more unconstrained?

There’s a timer, but you can pause it when you need to step away.
The solutions can be strange at times...
I would love to work a good crossword when I have the desk time available... which doesn’t seem to be in my immediate future...
That is one thing that I like about Wordle, most often the solutions come very quickly... within minutes of waking up and making a cup of coffee... then I can post the results and say “Hi!” to everyone and be on with the rest of my day... Some days I can get back to the desk or my phone once in a while... other days it isn’t until the evening or later...
But someday I would like to be able to sit and work a good crossword...
Like today’s... a rarely found usage form of the word... 🙃
