No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
Agreed. All of the “it’ll turn the frogs gay” fluff and nonsense over-rides the science that says “it’ll cause cancer in your newborn child” type stuff.
According to the State of California... Everything causes cancer.
It needs to stop.
Good morning. Happy Friday Eve!
It’s a little hard to believe we’re already this far into the week.
Mrs. ArGee has met 3 realtors and is leaning toward the one who will do a bunch of stuff on her own dime - staging the house, having it cleaned, helping to get rid of stuff. Since her commission isn’t high, we’re trying to figure out the catch.
It was a toasty 77 fs walking The Princess this morning. My beeber says we’re only heading to 88 but the NWS says we have a heat advisory from noon until 7. Who’s right? Who knows?
Wordle was more typical for me today.

Good Morning!
Yes, another week just rushing by and I seem to have lost a day somewhere along the way...
I could have had on the 3rd row but changed my mind at the last minute... 🙃

Good morning! It’s my day off from camp staff. I just took Frank back to camp after his night off. He forgot his bedding again. I’ll take it to him tomorrow.
Yutes!
He can sleep rough for a night then!
I remember being told to never change your answer on a test.
I later learned that advice was not based on anything real.
My parents made me deal with the outcome of my mistakes.
[sigh]
They deserve it.
Spent all that money on decent knives and can’t even put them in the block correctly.
Knives ALWAYS go into the block sharp edge UP.
And if the slots in the block don’t go all the way through, scrap it, crud’s just gonna build up in there, and you DO NOT want that. Horizontal slots are... OK. so long as they’re all the way through the block.

Happy Froiday Eve... 230 miles today... Client site and back again. Nice ride, but a bit cool this morning...
Home again... Safe and sound.

Cooler this past week. Evening onshore breezes from the great Pacific A/C unit got things kinda chilly in the wee morning hours. Fog has been rolling in over The Bay by 6pm.
Today’s Wordle seemed so... odd, but I made the guess, anyway, and — BOOM — there it was.

Yes . That cat has it figured out even if its owners don’t.
I suspect that is the case...
Good show, all the way around!
👍🏻
It was a bit of an odd Wordle.
I could use some outdoor AC. It’s supposed to be cooler today than yesterday.
Building insulation is amazing. During the winter the cold outside comes inside like the insulation isn’t even there. But during the summer I can be using a fan indoors and step outside and find it’s comfortably cool to even a bit chilly.
How it knows to insulate me from the temperatures I want and hold in the temperatures I don’t want is beyond me.
Good morning. Happy Friday!
The apartment complex is trying a coffee vendor by the clubhouse this morning. I may see what they’ve got.
I’m supposed to find a chance to go pick something up from the estate lawyer later today. Mrs. ArGee doesn’t like to do pick-ups from him because he always invites her in and talks for a bit and she’s not sure he isn’t billing.
I haven’t figured out the Wordle yet. I’ll be back when/if I do.
Was a little “slow” on this mornings Wordle...
