No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
You’re in CA right?
Aren’t wildfires, like, a seasonal thing?
Nope, but too close to the PRC (Peoples Republic of California)
Good morning. Interesting pattern!
Ash the greyhound and Jake the brown tabby used to sleep together.
Low/mid 80’s coming up this weekend.
Maybe hit the County Fair before it closes...
After a couple of similar attempts I got this funny feeling... “Trust the hunch,” did it.

I hope you have a pleasant evening. There will be fireworks in our neighborhood, so I don’t plan to go anywhere.
Good morning. Happy Independence Day!
I will be working at the house today helping Mrs. ArGee and her brother with the final push to get it ready to show to a realtor. 3 days of that on tap. Fun!
I had a real surprise on my 2nd Wordle guess this morning.

weired vivid dream. riot?, gang war? terrorist attack?
city. brick buildings
started with local ‘bum’ (spy? overwatch?) not being crippled and taking a dump at GF’s car door, caught by our hero, who the bum then tried to kill.
Our hero shot him through the windshield as he was trying to run him over. (Had a CCW, didn’t pull it until lethal threat)
He gets arrested. turns out some of the PD are with the gang(?)
then TSHTF big time musta been a thousand of them all VERY tough/body armored and highly motivated.
It just kept going and going and going. Our hero and the good cops would take some out, and more would pop out of the woodwork.
Big long mess, small arms up to 50 cal, explosives superb tactics.
They all took it personal.
then I got woken up after intense fighting. finally got the leader and kin though. their regulars were wearing white(?)
lots of weapons failures, jams, misfeeds, limited # of rounds, etc.
Body armored area hits would knock ‘em down/out, but they’d later get up and rejoin the fray.
elevators would jam, balconies would collapse odd bits of machinery in the way (what’s a boiler doing on a balcony or middle of a corridor?)
The bulk were white dressed regulars, but the popups were all in ordinary street clothes.
Aggressors apparently family business, wasn’t over until the head honcho taken out along with family that fighting tapered off, and they were very focused on taking out whoever got their leadership.
Happy Treason Day you bloody Colonials...

Very nice.
I’m putting the “In” in Independence Day this year: celebrating quietly at home.
I have a roast in low and slow, and as it gets near done I’ll sautée some Brussles sprouts to set alongside. That and I’m putting together a very simple grated carrot salad. Many variants exist, but I prefer just the carrots tossed with raisins and mayo.
Good afternoon kitteh!
“THIS is why we can’t have nice things.”
Because cats.
That’s one happy kitty. I love it when our cats roll around like that and say, “All’s right with my world”.
No more binge watching zombie movies for you.
I suppose you iz all wondering why I haz called you here today.
3 trips to 2 different transfer stations yesterday. One trip to the hardware store that takes care of old paint. So the garage was empty enough to get the stuff out of the garage attic and now it’s full again.
Today we’ll add stuff from the shed.
And the beat goes on.
