Elementary school evacuated after student brought “historic unexploded ordinance” for show and tell

No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.

One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.

The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:

Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.

Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.

Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,

It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.

But, she added:

Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.

Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.

The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.

‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'

Not an easy task by any means.

The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"

This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.

It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.

Good morning. Happy Twosday!

The heat wave continues.

I am using the in-laws old shredder for getting rid of their old papers. It doesn’t hold much but if I’m going to wear one out, it will be theirs instead of ours. I think I emptied it five times yesterday evening.

I need to figure out how to recycle monitors. Best Buy wants $40 to recycle one. I want to try to do better. Staples may not charge in NYS. I’ll check with them today.

Wordle was a little “Ungh” today with that letters 3-5 pattern.

Kitty pic of the day is "Duchess". Rescued from streets in Maui. Lived with us in CA and NY. (Sorry about the size. Would change, but in a hurry today.)

Yea. I know guys that did the tube swap on the front suspension, and went adjustable to coil-overs so they could do the spring delete. It’s a great way to go if you’ve got the extra cabbage.

I’m just happy I know a good fab shop. My stabilizer bar tab broke off the driver’s side lower A-arm on my ‘63 Impala, and they did a multi-pass weld to fix it. Cost me $65. I jacked it up to put in a set of new links with fresh rubber, and it’s all happy, again. Gotta say it was weird driving without the stabilizer bar actively at work to flatten the curves.

I have a pair of spring blocks in each coil in the rear end to get the rocker panels dead level with the pavement, but that’s the extent of my suspension mods.

Gonna warm up inland, but still “clousy” over The Bay with overnight fog clinging to the coastal hills, and lingering in the city.

No traction at all with my first guess.
Makes ya think that having TWO “seed” words with no letters in common might be wise.

Our friend Jeff Bezos has kits for my Camaro that are probably made out of pure Chinesium... Around $400 not including shocks.

Would probably go this route though...

Good morning. Happy Humph Day!

The heat wave is supposed to break today. I didn’t do any yard work yesterday as it was still 97 fs at 6pm. I’ll do it today. In the mean time, I’m getting pretty good at shredding documents.

The Princess gets groomed today. I’m sure she’ll like losing some of her coat.

I actually have two of them, however one has already been used... it doesn’t bother that much as I have taken to using a ‘used’ word on row 2 if it seems that it will be profitable...
