No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
It was a strange one...
That sounds very impressive! I never did enough to the rest of the car to expect great timings on a quarter mile, but I do wish that I had been able to get it on a dynometer at some point before I sold it... was always curious about what kind of HP that engine was producing...
Good Morning!
Still swampy but at least it has been sunny and dry (in the sky)...
This was a struggle, was stumped for quite some time, then all of a sudden it was there...

I think that most of us thought the same as small children!
Juneteenth sleep in... Just finished breakfast. Heading off for a quick shower, hardware store, then back home to mow the lawn. Going for a ride on Abby later as it is just beautiful outside. Steak for dinner.

I owe this one to Mr Croup from Neverwhere.
Junkyard. No heads and the pistons were rust-welded into the bores. That was 1998...
My high school jalopy was a ‘70 Delta 88 with a 4-bbl 455 in it. After tossing about $5k into the motor and trans... She was running in the 12’s with a curb weight somewhere still near 4k lbs. She lost a lot of weight when I got rid of the cast iron heads, intake, exhaust, and a few other things.
Loved that beast of a car.
Agreed. I was worried about pulling the plugs because Ford motors of that era where known for snapping the plugs off in the heads. Mine came out without a fuss though... The replacements shouldn’t have that problem in the future in either case.
Of course, almost immediately after that, it blew the drivers side exhaust manifold gasket so the O2 sensors on that side go all wonky on me when she heats up. Starts chugging at low speeds and stop/go traffic is brutal. I have it parked right now as that motor is also known for sh*tty metalurgy on the exhaust bolts leading them to snap off in the heads... I’ve looked up YouTube videos on this... it isn’t pretty or easy and all the shops around here want around $5k to do the job... More than the truck is worth at this point...
These kittahs work for democrats? LOL. Thanks. Was in need of belly laugh.
Good morning. Happy Friday!
We got a lot of stuff out of the house yesterday. There’s still a lot more to go. My understanding is that Saturday is for the Salvation Army. And, of course, more junk for the Transfer Station. We have to take the furniture nobody wants to another county. That will be soon, I think.
I got a bit of a break on today’s Wordle after yesterday’s thumping.

wiring and vacuum lines... “I’m customizing this... do I need this any more? I can’t even trace it back to the other end... “
At least a snapped of bolt is right there... You know what needs to be done to get it out as tedious and unpleasent as it may be...
Any-who...
85 and mostly sunny on tap for today. Possible pop-up t-storm later after dinner. HOT weekend on tap... might try to get the boat in the water. My kids haven’t been in it yet...

Struggle bus...
A while back I bought a used Jeep from a friend to let my 16-y-o son drive. The shop had a lot of trouble with it because it had some CA required modifications on it that they weren’t sure about. I know it impacted fuel flow.
Whatever it was, there were a lot of vacuum lines all over the place when one popped the hood.
He got his year out of the car, then cars for kids got it.
At least a snapped of bolt is right there... You know what needs to be done to get it out as tedious and unpleasent as it may be...
Yes, a lot of truth in that!
Weekend sounds good, enjoy!
Afternoon! Good luck with all the stuff. Makes me think I should clean out my house.
It would be a favor to your children.
Mrs. ArGee has been watching YouTube videos about people who just moved into their parents’ homes and added their own accumulations to the parents’. When it comes time to go through THAT estate - man!
There’s a footlocker made out of wood veneer with someone’s name on it we don’t even know who it is. Nothing in there. Just the foot locker.
We don’t have any stray wooden footlockers.
