No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
He’s large and in charge, obviously!
Orange cat fills the room with his aura.
Clever!
Good morning. Happy Monday.
B-I-L was too sick to get out of bed Saturday. Mrs. ArGee, young ArGee, and I did what we could in going through the house and getting rid of stuff, including taking 24 13-gallon trash bags to the transfer station (at $2 each). We wore protective masks and gloves for going through basement things because we discovered mouse droppings.
We also found a lot of some blue powder sprinkled over everything. It looked intentional. Does anyone know if there is (or was in the recent past) a blue powder associated with keeping mice away?
Anyway, B-I-L said he felt much better Sunday, so we did more clearing out. Hopefully when he leaves on Tuesday he’ll have made all the decisions on stuff he needs to make.
He said at least 2 fishing poles his father left to him were missing. He’s pretty upset about that.
After a 2 and a 4 at Wordle over the weekend, I hit the average today.

I’m not familiar with any blue powder for that purpose...
Good Monday Morning!
We had quite a thunderstorm in the early morning hours here, but nothing like what they had in the northern part of the state...
So-so Wordle today, at least it was fast moving...

Had my kids this past weekend. Pete had a bunch of grad parties for his friends to go to. Went out to eat last night.
Got a bunch of work done on my project car. Installing an after market EFI system in it... Got the new gas tank installed and the fuel lines run up to the throttlebody... Just need to finish all the wiring and install the O2 sensor.
Vroom.

You gave Wordle the finger?
Looks a little like it... IRL... my fingers are much longer. I’m not overly tall... Just under 6’... but I can easily palm a basketball.
If I’m sitting anywhere in my house for 5 minutes, my cat will come looking to get in my lap.
I saw a meme that used that picture. Elon says to Trump, “Now you call me a retard.” Funny stuff.
Our cats were never that friendly. It was a surprise if one wanted to sit on your lap, or even next to you.
Good morning. Happy Twosday!
It’s about time someone recognized kitteh’s place in the household.
We haz rain. Apparently a tornado hit out in western NY and did some damage. We don’t hear stories like that very often.
B-I-L came over for dinner last night and he and Mrs. ArGee hammered out his updated “wish list” of stuff. He decided to write that he wanted certain things, but he would relent on those if certain items that had been willed to him that were not found in the house were found and made available to him. We’re pretty sure the sister who lives an hour away took them during last summer, but we have no proof, of course.
Families and greed are not a good combination.
Not a bad Wordle today. True to form when I think of two possible words I guessed the wrong one first.
