No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
Currently 70 with t-storms rolling in soon. Supposedly... Drove the truck today.. Not sure why there have been so many Left-lane campers lately. Not just those insisting on doing the actual speed limit, but those going an easy 10 MPH below on a freeway.
Oblivious the danger they present to traffic trying to get around them. *sigh*

On a warming trend these past few days that is supposedly going to plateau in a week of upper 80s

If I didn’t get that same suspicion in time, I would have fallen through the bottom...

We have one more warm day and then the cool days return. The guesses for Sunday through Thursday is upper 50s to low 60s.
Mrs. ArGee has finally been given permission to get rid of stuff nobody wants. She says it was very satisfying to take 3 bags of clothing to the donations bin yesterday. She plans to take 15 bags to a charity second-hand store today. Yes, there was a lot of gently used clothing in her mother’s closet.
It’s been a rough couple of days for Wordle.

Windy AF today... But, no rain... however all of the “50 in a 70” types were still infesting the LEFT LANE on the freeway. Not just semitractors... but regular people completely oblivious to their behavior. There is literally a “move over” law in this State that if you are on a multilane hiway, open road ahead of you, and a line of cars behind you? Move right...

Nothing a good missile launcher wouldn't solve. Of course, the ordinance would need to be powerful enough to ensure the wreckage didn't continue to block the lane.
I do not have the mean to up armor any of my daily drivers at this point. Maybe I could find an old locamotive cattle guard to mount to the front...
A long time ago I saw a Gallegher routine where he was suggesting every driver could have some darts with yellow flags that say “Stupid.” When you see a driver doing something stupid you just shoot the dart into the back of their vehicle. Police would be able to ticket anyone with 5 or more “Stupid” flags in their car.
That’s probably better than weapons. Especially given what would happen to the population of the U.S. if we eliminated all the drivers doing stupid things.
