No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
Not the best tee shot on 16, but a pair of long irons made up the slack down the fairway. Facing my fourth stroke still over 100 yards out, I put a 7 iron on duty, planted the shot right onto the green, and got a beautiful roll straight to the pin for a Birdie. How about that!
In the hunt, now to wrap this round below par as we go to the 17th with me back at even par, which I haven’t seen since we finished play on the 1st hole.

I hope both kitteh settle in soon.
I’ll be on vacation next week and will be unable to post kittehs from Sunday the 18th to Saturday the 24th. The list is on my profile page in case anyone wants to use it.
Have fun on your vacation!
You must have a very hospitable closet. 😄
Good morning. Happy Friday Eve!
Kittehs are better than maths any day of the week and twice on Sundays.
Have a nice vacation, T-C. We’ll muddle through while you’re gone.
Somehow.
S-I-L had her clothes tryout yesterday. She’s becoming more greedy with every visit. Mrs. ArGee is dying now for probate to be filed so she can start officially doing things. B-I-L goes home today.
Our dry spell appears to be ending with flood warnings overnight. Fun!
On this penultimate hole I wanted to skirt the edge of all that water but wiffed off the tee to land in the rough at the right of the pond. My nexst drive wasn’t much better, putting me just onto that fairway cutout before the green. My shot to the green was decent putting me near enough to the hole to tap the ball in for a bogey.
If memory serves I head into the 18th hole with 59, or 9 under.

Back to Par! ⛳️
🤣
Enjoy your vacation! Will it be warm there?
Good Morning!
Finally got a day yesterday with low enough winds to burn some of the slash that has been collecting around here... also took the opportunity to finally cut down two large limbs that got twisted up in that tornado that passed too close for comfort last year...
On the 17th hole I had a decent tee shot but ended up buried in that deep bunker... flubbed the first attempt with the wedge and got on in 3... easy putt for the Bogey 4...

We’ll put it down as a nondescript Bogey!
Sure enough!

Back to par, and holding.
A silky smooth 5-iron shot off this 17th tee carried long over the right flank of the water to a lie in the approach to the right of the green. From about 45 yards, my chip on got close, but not close enough. I accepted a short 3-foot putt and par as my consolation prize.
And I’m fine with that; other contestants fared worse:

Still hoping to close out better than par, though, and looking at 18, tomorrow, to get it done.

Good morning. Happy Friday!
45fs and rain this morning. Rain foreguessed into tomorrow morning with chilly temps. It’s a fun end to the week before Mother’s Day. But the ducks are happy.
For hole 18 I was aiming for the right of that first cutout so I’d have a fairly straight shot to the green. But I hooked the ball. Fortunately I also really smacked it. 350 yards later I was into the second cutout with a straight shot to the green but only 100 yards away. My second shot took me to the green where a lucky bounce and just the right spin dropped the ball into the cup for the eagle.
I double-checked all my scores and show me finishing at 61.

Slightly better shot on the initial drive. Not great distance, but set up VERY well on the fairway. Switched to the #3 wood and gave it a mighty wack... Landed dead on the green just a couple feet from the cup. A quick tap in to close the round.
No idea what my score is... but we're spending Friday at the 19th hole. First round of sarsaparilla is on me.
