No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
We had a guest cat hanging around the driveway yesterday. I told him he couldn’t stay.
Congratulations on the 3,200! And your Wordle made a nice pattern.
I take it that it was really laborious... and you’ve have certainly had your share of heartache this round... it is bound to get better!!
Good Morning!
After today’s round of guessed boomers we should have a stretch of nicer weather...
I also played the 15th by the book, very decent tee shot gave me a nice lie to get to the fringe of apron on my second shot that I played with a 3 wood... a decent chip up had me on in 3 and a fairly easy putt for the Par 4...

Happily into the Tuesday. Another bright and sunny morning here. Drs appointment later... not happy with my Doc and may be shopping for a new one depending on what he says. I have some issues going on that their “play it safe and by the book” does not seem to be helping.
Some of it is just getting older. Some of it just life... but I’m finding our medical care system is no longer interested in fixing the things and is more concerned with just treating symptoms rather than root causes.
Might have to retire the Titlist for my main driver. The last couple weeks it just hasn’t been producing good results off the tee. Boomer of a second shot put me just a few yards off the green in the fringe of the rough. Wedge chipped it within spitting distance of the cup. Easy putt and on to the next hole.

You can say that again... and again!
Thank you.
Hopefully the guest cat listened. I guess you’re not ready for the pitter-patter of little paws yet?
My S-I-L, who used to practice at a clinic, said they told her she had to have a patient on their way with a prescription within 15 minutes. Anything else wouldn't allow them to make any money. And S-I-L said 10 minutes was taken up with the Q&A mandated by the electronic records act. She hated that approach to medicine. She's doing teledoc work now. I don't know if that's any better.
I try to hold on to my main driver until I get an ace. I figure it's bound to happen sooner or later.
What’s that you said about, “...it’s bound to get better”?
Careful, I’ll hang your visage in the hall Of The Prophets.
Off the 15th tee I put a left-biased drive at the very extremity of the upper fairway; a lie that left me with around 180 yards to the flag. I pulled a 5-iron and got a clean stroke that dropped right at the leading fringe of the putting surface, hopped, rolled, struck the flagstaff squarely, and dropped into the cup.
So, I notch my second Eagle of the round, clawing back — to engage the modern vernacular — TWO strokes, and now head to the 16th just a single stroke over par.

As we all look over our collective shoulder and break out in a sweat.
Good morning. Happy Humph Day!
The rain has let up for a bit. We’re supposed to have a decently dry day with highs in the low 60s with the wet weather starting again tomorrow. But this weekend is supposed to be the beginning of some really nice days and temperatures.
S-I-L wants to come over to the homestead and try on clothes today. We’re hoping this won’t be another marathon.
I didn’t get such a great first shot today, landing me just in on the fairway across all that scrub. For my next shot I decided not to take the risk of the rough bunker, landing just to the left of it. My third shot landed me just short of the green. My next shot landed just before the cup, but managed to have enough on it to roll in for the birdie.

Good Midweek Morning!
We avoided the worst of the storms yesterday and now have some clear sailing ahead of us, if the foreguesses are indeed correct...
At the 16th hole I again struggled off the tee... recovered a bit with my second shot going with the driver from the fairway... the booming shot with a generous roll got me within pitching distance... using the 9 iron and hitting it well landed me on in three... Luck was required for the very long putt to make it in for the Birdie 4...

Wednesday again? Didn’t we just do one of these? Seems like just last week...
Still haven’t found a suitable repalcement driver so the tee shot was not great, but at least ended up in the middle of the fairway. A couple of long and straight shots got me to the green with little finesse or fanfair. Putt was pretty straight forward with a nice drop to finish out the hole.

Ya, it seems to be some kind of repeating pattern…. I haven’t quite figured it out yet….
All too close to reality….
And that's how we wound up with three cats and one six-pound dog.
