No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.

Sleeping like that was how I slept when CFIDS first hit me, probably about the first five years. Then it became sporadic, and now, sleeping for more than two or three hours at a time is a rarity. So thanks! It was good!
Today is a nothing day. Nothing Planned, that is! I have to revise my pill chart and my budget page but that’s not going to take long.
I just hope the new pills begin to work, soon. It’s not like I had massive energy, now, but I sure would like to have more than I’ve had the last few months on these new BP pills. I have two weeks to get the place ready for company and at the rate I’m going it will be New Year’s Day before it’s done.
It’s been a very busy day here, but we’re finally all home except for James, who is going to wish he’d dressed warmly: the temperature is 24Fs.

Good morning. I’m sorry I’m late. I haven’t slept this late since I first moved in here. I had a hard time falling asleep last night — it was after 2130, and that’s two hours later than usual.
No plans today (good thing!) except for writing to Charlie, but I’ll work on brekkity first.
Carissa brought the pine nuts by as well as a “little gift for autumn” which I can still put out, as it’s a ceramic pumpkin. I have a scarecrow doll, some place, that PW gave me, but I don’t know which container it’s in.
Anyway, I’m here, so you’re not alone, haha!
I appear to have survived the surgery.
As my mother would have said, “I hope it was nothing trivial.”

As they used to say about the rival town when I was growing up: Don’t drink the water in Spanish fork! You’ll get pregnant! Those from Spanish Fork would say: Don’t drink the water in Payson! You’ll get pregnant!
This ain’t pregnancy, but you get the picture. It’s the water!

Pulled the Foley catheter at 10:00 AM. Some bleeding, about as much as a bad nose bleed.
Not even taking any pain meds.
Good afternoon! Busy day here. The bros and Kathleen and I helped to sort the Christmas wreaths that the girl Boy Scouts sold for their fundraiser. I bribed the bros with cake.
When we got home, we delivered all the ones we had sold to people on our street. The rest are people from church.
All of that is good news. So you didn’t even need me to hold your hand!
(Just — FYI: I would have...repaid the favor, that is!)
Sometimes, the bros need to be bribed with cake, or whatever else (cheap) it takes to get the job done.
This has been a strange day, what with me getting up so late.
Nothing was “normal,” but nothing was wrong, and somehow, the day just felt “off.”
Tomorrow starts another few days of being lop-sided, with all the screwy hours, so I’ll try to take it as it comes, and maybe it will set my body clock back again to where it’s supposed to be.
Carissa will be at our church tomorrow along with her two partners in the Relief Society, but she’ll be there on business, so I’ll sit and listen! She’s fun to listen to when we go somewhere and she talks. So it will be enjoyable to learn whatever she’s teaching.
