No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.

DC has the lead at 4 under... ⛳️
(Let me know if there are any errors or issues...)
I’ll print it out and have my Mom put it on her fridge. LOL...
“Luck be a Lady... tonight...”
Be sure to circle or highlight your name and score!!
So, since I don’t know if I can catch DC, I’ll have to see if I can at least not lose the tied 2-spot.
Hold on to your hat, anything can happen on the Wordle links…. I have been lucky that my horrendous scores have been on our weekend practice holes….
That was the hat for the last course!
My luck will run out... There is always hope. :-)
This is a cat named Toast who moved into a fire station.
Awwww... “Toast”. The color of a perfect slice of toast for sure.
According to the poster, he had a hard life up to that point: he’s missing his tail, and not by birth.
Sweet kitty. I can’t understand how humans can abuse animals, when God gave us the job of caring for animals. I hope the firemen spoil him rotten.
Good morning. Happy Humph Day!
It’s always stressful when unboxing after a move to make sure you find the cat quickly. At least this one seems to have been packed well.
Mrs. ArGee wants to dispose of her mom’s stuff responsibly. Lots of the clothes would be good for a used clothing store. The estate attorney is suggesting she just trash it all to make things simpler. I’m with Mrs. ArGee on this one.
I have suggested, however, that when it comes to siblings wanting stuff, if they don’t work out an agreement among themselves then the contested items get liquidated and they get the money. Mrs. ArGee doesn’t choose a “winner” in a dispute.
On the 11th hole I took the conservative route and shot for the cutout before the green, aiming toward the right. I managed to just make it passed the hill so the ball didn’t roll back. I was then able to make a shot to the far side of the green fairly near the cup, leaving myself with a very reasonable 4 foot putt. I made that one for par.

The thread indicated that the firemen are spoiling him rotten. Also that there are others with cats named Toast!
Good Midweek Morning!
Boomers on tap for later today, so say the foreguessers... I can’t tell you how itchy the group of fire ant bites are that I have on my legs... I could... but what is the point?
On the 12th hole I overshot the green and landed in the sand to the right... chipped out cleanly but way too far, on to the apron... took a shot at a long putt but was wide right, tap in for the Bogey four...

I will head to the 12th hole with a 42, dropping to 1 under...
Best wishes to Mrs. ArGee.
Happy Odin’s Day.
Bright and sunny morning, if a bit cool... Not too cool for me to not take the opportunity to commute via Abagail. I did wear the longjohns and thinsulate lined gloves though. Should be getting close to 70 this afternoon and I have lighter gloves in my saddle bags.
Got a good knock off the drive that lofted well and carried much futher than I though it would have. #3 iron covered the rest of the distance to the green. A bit too aggressive on the putt and it rimmed the cup. But it was a quick tap in to round it out.

I met a man who had a farm tractor roll over its back tires while he was in the driver’s seat. The steering wheel hit him in the upper jaw, right under the nose. (Long story about how that happened and not the point.)
How did he survive a farm tractor smashing his face into the ground? His head landed in a fire ant hill.
So, the good news, he lived. The bad news, he wished he hadn’t. Except, of course, once the pain from all those stings went down he was very happy to be alive.

Hoping that you enjoyed the ride!
