No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
Fully understood... I was playing up for the bit. :-)
w00t!
I didn’t think anyone was ever going to claim the 00 post.
The kittah pics are always a beautiful blessing. Thank You for each pic.
7 length, but what about beam?
Good morning. Happy Twosday!
We’re still in our warming trend. It’s supposed to get over 80 fs today.
I had to factory reset my phone over the weekend. I’m still dealing with accounts that want me to use my phone for two-factor authentication.
Of course, I had backed up my phone to my Google account before the factory reset. But it wouldn’t restore from the backup because reasons.
This stuff still needs work.
For hole 10 I was going to hit a nice, conservative shot to the right of that tree, but I hooked it. Low and behold it missed everything and made it to the fairway nearest the green in that first drive. I supposed if I’d tried to do that it would have ened in disaster. Instead, I had an easy shot to the green. Today was a day of surprises when my shot to the green actually landed in the cup. It actually landed just before the cup but with enough top spin to roll in for an eagle. Consistency is not my middle name.

Front nine w00t!

A novel idea!
Good show! 🦅
Good Morning!
If it wasn’t for air conditioners and dehumidifiers I suspect that I would have drowned at this point...
Factory reset is one of the scariest things about modern living... 😮
Opening up the back nine I took a ‘by the book’ approach... Solid drive from the tee placed me just past the elbow with a nice roll... a solid 7 iron got me just to the apron... actually used the putter for shot 3 but again... no legs... 12 foot tap in for the par 4...

I will head to the 11th hole with a 38, staying at 2 under...
Perhaps all that humidity is making the grass on the green a little thicker, taking some of the “oomph” out of your putt?
It certainly is here! not sure about that course up in northern MN though...
I love a good thunderstorm and was completely underwhelmed by the barest drizzle of rain we received.
Really not feeling it this morning... and my swing today is a perfect example. Muffed the drive from the t-box and watched the ball land within stones throw distance. For real? Dang... Got a good chunk of it with the Ping though and made up some much needed yardage. Grabbed the wrong club on the next swing, but the #5 iron had enough leg to drop me right on the green. Short putt and now I can review the video of that first swing to see what the heck went wrong.

Thank you. I seem to have my best scores on the holes where I make the biggest mistakes.
I love a good thunderstorm as well. I don’t love picking up stuff afterwords so much. And the older I’ve gotten the more I’ve come to appreciate just how much power is being unleashed in one. It ain’t no wonder earlier generations of humanity thought they were examples of the gods getting rowdy.
I was going to ask if you had any severe action last evening, the SPC had forecast quite a bit...
🤣
I remember that well!
*sad God of Thunder noises*
It rained a bit before dawn. Briefly had a bit of wind mid-afternoon followed by quick shot of drizzle. Sunset was bright and pretty...
