No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
Thank you.
Good morning. Happy Monday!
If it can be considered happy when it snowed this morning.
OK, it was just a dusting, but it’s March 24. C’mon, man!
Another caregiver quit yesterday. Of course, we saw that she wasn’t really providing care so it’s probably best for M-I-L but Mrs. ArGee has to find someone else by next Sunday and none of the current group wants that spot. I guess it’s not going to get easier.
I was a little shy of the water and the sand traps so I didn’t really try a strong drive. But after 3 very conservative shots I landed right next to the cup on the green for an easy putt.

Good Monday Morning!
After a pretty nice weekend we had a line of nasty thunderstorms descend on us from the northwest last night... thankfully the nastiest of them seemed to stay to our East...
My approach to the 4th hole was to get as close to the tee side of that large gap of water as possible... A great, high drive off the tee got me just into the inside of the bend on the edge of the sand... 3 wood it is, amazing I got enough of a backspin that when I landed on the green it dug in enough to not roll off the backside... a tough putt for sure, but extreme luck was with me as it dropped in for Birdie...

Heading to the 5th hole at 1 under...
I never imagined that when I retired I’d be getting up at 5 am...
Slow and steady wins the race...
Mediocre swing off the tee with a hesitant follow through with the driver. Left a long 3 iron again that put me on the green. Putt came up short, but I was able to tip it in on the next shot.

I’m not sure I’ll be sleeping in if I ever retire.
I’ll probably try to keep working, too. I need something to keep the mind active. Maybe helping with a charitable organization or something.
I have my 5,000 year project. We met with the people who will polish it up for presentation to investors last Saturday. It went well.
But I’m getting up early because of mom. When she goes to bed, we go to bed. By 5 I’m done sleeping.
I get up early because of work in the weekdays, and on weekends to keep the dog on a schedule.
My little (130 pound) knucklehead needs to be reassured everything is OK and he’s loved at 3:00 am.
A few minutes of petting and praising and he’s back to sleep.
He’s back to sleep.
This is knucklehead-who-is-not-allowed-on-the-furniture?
The same.
White tie and tails.
The very image of sartorial perfection.
A fun weekend, and decently nice as weather goes. Balmy. High 60s, low 70s. Mostly sunny.
Went to a Birthday party for a friend Saturday night and had a good time. Must’ve been inordinately tired as I ended up going to Inert Mass on Sunday.
It’s interesting, to me, that this course features the same tee shot on three consecutive holes. Off the 4th, like the prior two, the view ahead is heavily framed with trees to the left, though they — happily — don’t impede the necessary work at-hand, as they did on the 2nd. Firing out of the slot I made for a long drive seeking the middle fairway and shading a bit to the right at the dogleg short of the water. A man possessed of the puissance might risk an overflight of the large tree-filled sand bunker on the right in hopes of a shorter second shot over the water. I am not that man. I made a more conservative lie farther to the left, from which point a long, low iron saw me safely over the drink to a landing that gave me good hope of getting onto the green with a high iron. Not wanting to fall short, I chose 7 over 9, and just throttled it back a hair. The shot dropped on nicely, bounced, and rolled up pin high to the left, which left me a 6-7ft putt to close out the hole at par.
With all of this dihydrogen oxide scattered around loose, I’m relieved to be holding at 1-under heading to the 5th tee.

Coming in at one over, I clearly have my work cut out for me.
I think he looks very sharp.
Does Tyson wake you up?
Oh, Mom.
Yes. When he needs to go, when he needs comforting, and occasionally when he just needs to bark.
Truly was... amazed how a slow cook and a reverse sear can turn “meh” into “oh wow”...
Doing a hamburger/ramen with snow peas and carrot tonight...
