No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
In addition to the laundry, it seems I had some unfinished jobs awaiting me and I’ve managed to get them all taken care of.
One day this week, I need to work on the closet in the living room because it’s the only way I can get the living room itself squared away for the visit of the Folks From Dogpatch.
I’m going to have lunch and then see what I feel like doing next, if anything. Maybe put out some Nativities and hang my skates!
Wednesday is my appointment at Cardiology in George, and I’m not looking forward to it.
“I can’t wait until my next cardiology appointment,” said nobody, ever.
I suppose if someone had a really cute cardiologist, but they’d have to be exceptional.
She’s cute, but no thanks. She’s abrasive and she has a student doctor that can’t keep his hands to himself. So I don’t like going.
She’ll be upset that I didn’t finish the Holter monitor study she wanted me to have, but my fragile skin can’t tolerate the adhesive on the sticky pads for the electrodes. She’ll have to do with 36 hours instead of three weeks’ worth of data.
Busy busy Monday...
Wasn’t sure I was going to nab this one...

Very true…
We believe so… we actually had been hoping to have another conversation with him to “verify” things….. but he slipped away (very thoroughly) many months ago, so we are just believing that his confession of faith was heartfelt and sufficient… 🙏🏼
🤣
But you did.
Hopefully your Tuesday is a little less manic.
Good morning. Happy Twosday!
It was a little less cold walking the Princess this morning. She was not in any hurry to finish her “business.” She’s getting groomed tomorrow. We’ll see how quick she is in the mornings after having some of her coat removed.
M-I-L is still not sleeping at night, which makes her grumpy during the day. Mrs. ArGee is afraid we’re going to lose all our caregivers. But I would think it’s part of the job to deal with cantankerous charges. Anyway, hopefully this stage of her grief will end soon.
A bit of a Wordle surprise today.

Woke to the sound of the smoke alarm. Ratboy took it into his head to fry bacon, but not turn on the exhaust fan.
17°F.
Good Morning!
We had our last chilly overnight for a bit... expecting a bit of a warm up and hopefully some rain...
I got a similar Wordle surprise this morning... needed something like that to break out of the Wordle doldrums that I have been in...

The good ones seem to know how to take that all in stride and counter it with a smile (of sorts)... the ones that are clearly in the wrong business seem to take it as a personal affront at times...
I do my bacon in the microwave. Less time, very cripsy, and less grease, as it all drains off into the paper towels underneath it and the one above it catches the splatters.
Big rodent!
Good morning. Did you sleep well?
Do you have another busy day planned? Or do they just attack you from out of the blue?
The alarm rang and I threw the covers off, then got cold, covered back up and got another 30 minutes. I have to get up early tomorrow because the cardiologist’s appointment is at 1000 in George.
I’m getting too tired to keep getting up to the alarm, so I won’t set it after tomorrow for a few days. The only thing on the docket today is to put the clothes away.
I’m sorry to hear your M-i-L isn’t sleeping and that you’re having trouble with the caregivers. That’s got to be stressful for all of you involved.
We have a milder 46° this morning, but that’s probably due to the overcast. The high will reach 67 degrees, but it will be cloudy all day.
I hope you find a solution to things soon. Maybe talk to the head of the agency that handles the caregivers, and see what they recommend. They should know what to do, I mean, they ARE in the business!
And the smell of frying bacon didn’t wake you?
Sorry for the rude awakening.
The agency that handles the caregivers is Mrs. ArGee.
We looked at the agencies. They charge a hefty margin and they don’t guarantee coverage if someone has an emergency. So we decided not to pay for them.
Maybe that wasn’t the wisest choice. But they also have lots of other restriction the independent caregivers don’t have.
I’ll pass that on. Usually he bakes them in the oven.
