No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
I think so, too.
Good morning. Happy Monday!
The foreguess is for a high of 43fs today. I’m looking forward to that. The Princess keeps wanting to find some fresh snow for her “business” but the treks further off the beaten path mean I break through the ice crust a lot, which is work. Maybe enough will melt to make that easier.
We had a peaceful weekend. Now for another week of owrk.
I mostly had par scores on Wordle, which is carring into today.

Good Monday Morning!
The weather here has evolved to the point that our daytime highs remain above 70° until Wednesday of next week (3/5)... at least that is the foreguess... Very happy to see the photos from my son last evening showing their “moved in” house... it was an incredible amount of work that he got done in the 3 weeks since I was there helping him...
My newest starter word has provided 3 4s...

Thanks! I’m glad to be back home! My feer at this this point is, of course, going back.
Good to “see” you again, ‘Face.
We’ll pray against any relapse or any new conditions. I wouldn’t want to go into the hospital, either.
Happy Monday...
Spent part of yesterday cleaning out my garage and moving a few things around. Threw out an entire trash bins worth of stuff I just don’t need and can’t sell.
Managed to get the bike out for a rather bracing ride, but still much needed...

Even so, it’s a cute cat!
Sleep was restless last night, moreso than the night before, but maybe today will be busy enough that I forget about interruptions every few hours and be able to sleep straight through.
Adjusting my diet is going to be rough going for a while, but in time, I’ll get it done and be back to eating regular meals. I hope.
I had some crazy dreams last night, but they aren’t worth relating! Just crazy stuff.
Thanks! That’s heartening!
Awfully nice Wordle there!
Sounds like a pretty good weekend overall…. I always enjoy the newly found space when I can get rid of a bunch of unneeded stuff…
Bra-VO!
🤩
Wait! I thought one got rid of unneeded stuff when one needed space for the newly acquired stuff. So the space gets used back up right away.
Do some people do that differently?
The weather is supposed to hit a stellar 74° today, so maybe our long winter has dissipated. I’ll be glad to see it end, for sure!

So ... er ... um ... hmmmm!
For any Boots McPaws fans, let me introduce The Kittles, playing their new song...
I had paint cans that were dried solid. Bits of scrap wood and plastic from various projects. Kids toys that were not even in good enough condition to pass on the the neighbor kids to play with. Some old decorations my Ex-wife had that I either can’t or won’t do anything with to repair and use again...
I also started, and this is a multi-day effort, to go through all my tools and figure out exactly how much stuff I actually have. My Dad gave me a bunch of stuff he didn’t need, and I passed some of that on to my Son as well. I asked my Daughters if they had any interest in expanding the tool boxes I’d already put together for them... but neither were interested...
Still debating getting rid of the ping-pong table top for my pool table... I’ve never used it...
Ambitious! Bring some ambition down here, OK? I need it!!
;o]
Actually, I do it both ways.... sometimes I am ahead of the curve, other times woefully behind....
I will join you in that... I will be very glad to see this winter end!
We’ve got similar collections that need to be processed at some point.... now that my son has a workshop in his new house, I will need to drive a truck load of tools up to him someday....
I read an article the other day that said playing several games of ping pong twice a week can keep one in very good condition....
So good to see you posting again! I’ll be stepping up the prayers.
Take care of you!
