No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
I’m sure you feel much safer with Tyson to defend you.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ONE AND ALL!
And to you, too! Tom the Son and I are waiting to be told “30 minutes to turkey” before we put the bacon-and-vegetable casseroles in the oven.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours as well!
I hope your day has been great so far!

Great series!
I had my frozen turkey dinner around noon, and just about the time that I was thinking about the last pill dosage and last meal of the day, the doorbell rang. It was Kori, telling me dinner at the clubhouse was ready and I begged off.
Then she said those fateful words: Can I bring you a plate? After she went to all that work? Yes, she could, so about 30 minutes later she brought me three disposable containers filled with 1) potatoes with gravy and ham on the one side, with turkey on the other, 2) green beans and stuffing, and 3) pistachio salad and cranberries with 4) a large plate with a single large slice of pumpkin pie and a monstrous dollop of homemade whipped cream. That was a little bit more than “a plate,” I think!
So I took a taste of everything and yes, all of it was homemade. She has been working for the last three days on this meal. I didn’t want to go, of course. It would have short-circuited me to the point that I wouldn’t be able to go to church Sunday but her generosity touched me. She’s one who probably has the least income in this place.
So I’m grateful and will nibble on the foods until they are all gone. Except for the pie: Life is uncertain — eat dessert first!
So I’m off to fix Chip’s food, then my own, and I’ll see all y’all tomorrow. Happy Turkey Day wishes to your family! I have a VERY lot to be thankful for! All of you are included!
It’s also on BritBox!
Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you had a great day!
And welcome to the Undead Thread!

Same to you!
I’m glad they brought you a nice dinner. And I hope you have a good night!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanks, I hope that your day was very enjoyable!
Good Friday Morning!
I completely understand what that cat means...
It was a great group of folks and all of the food was great... but I should NOT have taken seconds and should NOT have tried 4 different pies for dessert... at least they were small pieces of pie... And it got quite a bit colder overnight that foreguessed... had to switch out the 150 watt incandescent bulbs in the greenhouse to actual heat lamps...
A real struggle with this Wordle to start the day...

I would still be sleeping if it weren’t for my alarm!
Good morning. I hope you had a good night after all those festivities yesterday.
Nothing much on the docket for today, but I’ll think of something.
Chip didn’t touch his food last night, but he did occupy my desk chair. It was still warm when I sat in it. I leave it facing forward to the heat reaches him while he sleeps. The sun warms the front of the place so there’s no need to turn the heater on in the living room. Chip is a smart kitty!
I’ll have to give Kori a “thank you” card for the dinner. She was so happy to do it. The look on her face was pricelss when she brought the food.
I’m glad you had a good gathering, because that’s what its all about. I loved Thanksgiving as a kid, then as an adult I saw it from a different perspective. Then I got CFIDS, and everything changed. So I avoid gatherings of more than four people.
Four different pies? Wow! I was happy to have pumpkin! Although some apple would have been good! Dutch Apple, which was my family’s favorite.
It’s good that you had heat lamps for the greenhouse.
Good morning, everyone. I just got the dishes from the dishwasher put away. We used the real china plates. Maybe I’ll polish up the silver plate for Christmas.
I used some Monkey Face-produced crochet-lace table covers, too!
Thank you! I have more where they come from!!
Trying to think of where to get rid of them to make room for more. ;o]
We’ve got a less-than-toasty 30° out, and the high will be pushing 50 degrees. Not my idea of fun. I have to take the trash out today, but it’s going to be closer to noon before that happens. Otherwise, I’ll be wearing my parka!
Wednesday, I see the cardiologist and I don’t look forward to the visit. She’s abrasive and her male student is all touchy-feely, and I don’t like to go there, even though Carissa goes with me.
The appointment I really want is with ENT. If they’d ever call.
Same...
Had a very happy turkey day... Now... Time to haul boxes of decorations out of the basement, put up the tree, and deploy Christmas...

It is different when we go down to our daughters in that we don’t see the same people (that we usually see here for holidays and dinners)... one of our BIL & SIL that live closer to our daughter’s place came down... and we got to see our deceased son’s best friend and his family that also attended...
I think that next year we will plan to host it up here to avoid the driving (especially the drive home in the dark)...
(Oh, and I picked those 4 pieces from 8 pies and a Tiramisu cheesecake... I know my limits.... sort of...)
Good Morning!
We will do that china and silver drill for Christmas dinner that we will be hosting... Our daughter actually used disposable plates and tableware... it made sense with a crowd that large...
