No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
Yup, I think that is part of the system that is supposed to sweep across the Southland and wreak havoc on everyone in its path...
Funny!
Same with Beyond Paradise... only saw the Christmas Special and did not see that any more of Season 3 is available...
Yeah, I’m afraid the women are a little overwhelming in their roles. But as long as the scripts are good, and I have to fight to know “Whudunnit?” I’m happy with the show and its characters.
I’m tired, but I don’t want to take a nap. Not with tomorrow being laundry day....
Maybe just a small nap?
I don’t know what episodes have been released. My husband is in charge of streaming.
Weatherguessers are now guessing we won’t have snow.
Stake Conference is on now, so I’ll watch it and then see how I feel.
I’m also hungry, whereas, a few minutes ago, I was nauseated. Don’t know what that’s from.
I’ll check with BritBox and see if I can find out how many episodes have been made with the new DI.
Don’t anger the smart dust:

if you’re not using it
why not let me into your skin?
take it out for a spin
drink it up til it’s gone
taste it on my tongue
coming down, feel the rush
fire in my lungs
too much is still not enough
taste it on my tongue
coming down, feel the rush
blackout like the sun
I wanna know
what it’s like
to feel your heart beating from the inside
take your soul, for the night
lose control, end up in the afterlife
There’s no smoke coming this way from Los Angeles. You have to look at it on a map, but Reno, NV is over 80 miles west of due north of L.A. and the S.F. Bay and environs are nearly 150 miles farther west than that.
When you know what’s half wrong...
I’m always reminded of the logic game “MasterMind” because the three-state indications about your guesses are the same:
“Wrong pick”
“Right pick, wrong place”
“Right pick, right place”
I remember that from when we lived in the Bay Area! I found it hard to believe that Reno could be farther west, but then, I was young and looked at a map. All I could say was, “Wow. Who knew?”
That’s a plant warmer!
Good morning. I hope you had a good night.
Since I turned on the heater in the kitchen, and got the back storm door on, this place stays pretty much the same temperature until the sun goes down. Of course it faces south, so the heat and light come in the living room window, so that warms it up. The temperature is almost a constant 75°.
Off for a nap!
Looks like a catcus to me.
It’s a Great Day To Be Alive !!! Prayers for President Trump and Americans.
The prickly parts could be a surprise.
A cattail?
Well played.
No snow in our immediate area as well...
Good morning all. I’m finally up (again) and almost ready for the day. I’ll get something on my stomach and then get on with it.
I woke back up at 0700, was going to get up but my body had another idea. So this is me, coming to the party late. But it’s a holiday, so what could I do? Heh-heh.
Nothing on the docket except to hang the clothes and take the trash out. And put the water up so it will be cold when I go to grab a bottle.
At almost 0900, it’s 21° outside! Br-r-r-r-r!
