No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
I hope things go well at the hospice appointment. Things like that are never easy to contemplate and even harder to do, but sometimes, we have no choice.
You know I’ll be praying for all of you.
Thanks for the prayer for the pain clinic. It seems, when I go there, that the doc doesn’t really listen to me, so I don’t particularly like to go. She forgets how old I am, and that’s something she should never do.
Good Midweek Morning!
Still looking like we will be in the clear of the messy winter weather that will pass to the north of us... at this point, looking lot a lot of rain here tomorrow... 🤞🏻
Yet another case of ‘learning a new word!’ on row 2... I need to stop messing around like that... although it did give me some useful hints...

The number has been registered since 2013, so it looks like I’ll have to change the phone number soon.
I’ll send an email to everyone when I’ve done it. Then I’ll notify the businesses when it comes time to pay bills again.
Off to the shower.
Chip came out after my shower and decided to have Second Breakfast with me! He was in Stealth Mode again, so even though I tried to be aware of when he left, he’s just too invisible, and I missed it.
Still, it’s a good sign!
I have to head for the pain clinic soon, so I’ll be here when I’m done with errands.

Busy day today... Although, may get a mid-week warm-up next week... If it is still snow “free” and in the 30’s... I may dig Abagail out and test my heated vest with a short ride.
Good luck at the pain clinic.
The pain clinic went well. All they do is check that 1. I’m taking the meds like I’m supposed to and 2. That the dosage is adequate to do the job. Fine, on both accounts, so the prescription has been renewed for another 30 days.
Tomorrow, I go into George to the ENT and hopefully, I’ll find out if my voice will come back to the point that I can actually carry on a conversation that people can hear, and what needs to be done to make that happen.
So if anyone has any spare prayers, I might be able to use one! :o]
I have plenty of prayers available.
Thanks! I can use as many as you can spare!
Drat, I dropped them all behind the fridge.
Let me pull it out and I’ll get some prayers going up.
;)
Thank you, sir! You are too kind!
How did things go today?
Things went well. M-I-L’s vitals were normal, which isn’t always the case. Her meds regimen is OK for now. The regularly scheduled visits start after today.
It sounds as if you and Mrs ArGee have things well in hand as far as your M-i-L is concerned, and that’s good news.
I hope the regularly scheduled visits give you both a sense of relief. Prayers are always going up for all of you!
Have a good night!
Good place for spare cats! LOL!
Good morning. I hope you had a good night.
Today I go see the ENT guy, and I’m not looking forward to it because it probably means more medication with more side-effects. But my kids think I’m lazy and like the way I sound. HAH! I have to repeat everything unless I’m standing right next to someone.
It’s also the day we get our fire extinguishers exchanged, and Bethany threw me a curve last night. She wants the extinguishers outside the front door. Chuck used to come to the back door and exchange them. With both my shoulders dislocated at some time during my life, lifting something heavy above my shoulders is almost impossible. She has no clue.
By the time we’re 70, we’ve lost 75% of our muscle strength, anyway, so she’s not being logical about this whole thing.
Good morning. Happy Friday Eve!
I’m sort of wondering how one determines which cats are essential and which cats are spare.
M-I-L’s Credit Union finally moved the branch that was in an area with lots of homeless. That’s good news for Mrs. ArGee. As much as we hate the suffering of the homeless, we don’t want them accosting her as she tries to get her mother’s banking done.
We got our annual lease renewal paperwork yesterday. It included a pretty big bump. The office said they’d try to work with us on reducing the increase but to give them until next week. We may have to seriously consider moving into M-I-L’s place, which would be a serious cramp of space and lifestyle. But, as Doris Day used to say, Que sera, sera.
I made a dumb mistake on Wordle guess 2 which gave me a really confusing jumble of letters to work with. But I got there.

Can’t she just come in?
Of course she can! That’s what upset me so badly. I told her last week that I would leave the back door unlocked while I was gone, and since the fire extinguisher was hanging just to the right, between the door and the window, it would be a simple thing to swap them out.
The extinguisher company brings all newly charged extinguishers and just trades places with the old ones.
She forgets she’s in a community of SENIOR people! Chuck always did the heavy work. My extinguisher will just hang there until she changes it. NOT going to hurt myself for her.
