I don’t suppose they recovered any Etruscan reading material for the departed to pass the time...?

My old high school had a book in the library, probably Time-Life series, survey of little-known civs. That was the first time I’d heard of them — “The Etruscans: An Historical People Who Left No History”. Most Etruscan texts that survive are short ones, on funerary monuments.

:^) No, and he isn’t an archaeologist either, and not just because he’s fictional.

If she posed for it, she probably got bored, or was a little bumped because she knew what it was for. :^)

Amazing artwork, especially for 300 BC.

It’s just something on my Christmas list every year, along with a Minoan-Greek dictionary and some Great Pyramid blueprints. Draft of a new play in Shakespeare’s shaky hand. I’m not asking for Atlantis. :(

Someone stumbling upon a artifact on their own land does not strike me as bungling tomb raiders.

So it was their land, but not their artifacts. Property rights are very different there.

Yeah, the Etruscans were a bunch of male supremacists, forcing women to conform to an impossible ceramic standard. /s

Not as much as one would rightly think. Here in the County of Santa Cruz, California, an "archaeological site" is anything older than 75 years. Disturb one with heavy equipment as part of a construction project and watch what happens.

No sir. I am referring to the style of art. That is the famed “Etruscan Smile” if I’m not mistaken.

A fellow elected official from my history was fond of saying “In America, something is historical if it’s older than a Mustang.”

“NTSA.”

I just love it when someone comes at me with an acronym or whatever that is.

I did Google it though, and came up with National Training & Simulation Association. It makes sense. The message “NTSA” obviously means the artifacts were simulations for training purposes.

On the other hand, if you don’t have the guts to say what it means, then put a plug in it.
