Democrats and liberal commentators are desperately trying to explain away one of the biggest shocks of the 2024 election: Donald Trump’s 46% share of the Hispanic vote, a modern-day Republican record and remarkable improvement over the 32% he received four years ago.
But their explanations demonstrate striking elitism and lack of self-awareness and accountability. For example, Rep. Greg Casar (D-TX), likely the next Congressional Progressive Caucus chair, chalked up Latino voter erosion to right-wing “misinformation.” Joe Scarborough, co-host of Morning Joe, blamed “misogyny” and racism from Latino men. Several pundits, such as CNN’s Jim Acosta, claimed Hispanics voted against their “self-interest.” And MSNBC’s Joy Reid accused Hispanics of voting against their race: “Y’all voted with … David Duke and against your …wives, sisters, and abuelas.” This kind of race essentialism – believing that Hispanics should vote solely based on their race – is the real racism, not the perceived slights the media obsesses over.... Our key finding: Hispanics have the same concerns as everyone else. Hispanics are just as concerned about their faith and families, the economy and inflation, crime, and the direction of the country as all Americans. President Trump spoke to these concerns far better than Democrats, and that’s the reason for his historic performance with Hispanics. And, it turns out, with Americans of almost all backgrounds.

At this rate the democrats will want to build a wall.
By Far The Top Comment Of The DAY!!!
Most of the Hispanic men I know would never consider voting for a woman - Any woman. I think that was a big part of how their vote went this time.
Two things about that:
1) A comedian who specializes in insulting people was a poor choice to speak at a political rally. I presume he will not speak at the inauguration.
2) Oversensitivity to identity politics "errors" is a mistake. Trump carried Miami-Dade (of all places) and did very well with US citizen voters of Hispanic ancestry, INCLUDING Puerto Rican men.
Yes it was a stupid "joke" but it doesn't seem to have cost Trump anything, and the lesson is treating men as fragile flowers who are supposed to faint at the slightest mention of their ethnicity or homelands is giving identity politics more punch than it deserves.
At this rate, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer may end up building Trump’s border wall with their bare hands.
Interesting note about that Puerto Rican “garbage” slur.
There is a county in Florida with the highest percentage of Puerto Ricans on the mainland (don’t recall the name).
It was traditionally easily carried by Democrats.
President Trump won it this time.
Once you understand why this happened you can begin to understand how electoral politics really works.
(The mass media is totally clueless btw.)
Hint: Politics is downstream from culture. The leftist crazies have values in direct conflict with Puerto Ricans.
I’m a MAGA snowflake in a blue-blue state so maybe I was more offended than anyone as I was extremely stressed about the prospect of Trump not winning LoL.
The campaign vetted the speakers material beforehand.
That comedian added the stuff about Puerto Rico, blacks, and Hispanics to his spiel.
Totally true. My late husband was “Hispanic” but more importantly, he was career U.S. Army. Though 100% WASP, I have a Hispanic surname as do most of our 20+ grandchildren. For Hispanics that have been American citizens the 1800’s, immigration is not the major issue.
Trump’s Hispanics are All-American.
Trump didn’t call them Hispanics - he called them Americans.
