Maybe in his copious free time Elon could have a gander at NASA......

Fire the idiot bill nelson first thing. Put EM in charge of NASA. We’ll be on the moon in two years and Mars in four.

NASA will be in better hands now that the adults are back on charge.

Why not use the same type of rocket used to send men to the men in 1969? It worked.

Maybe a video of that project would make a great episode for Red Dwarf...

Last time I checked a NASA website, and I think it was for the Artemis program, it was so overtly DEI-focused it came across as a parody. Not surprised the Didn't Earn It crowd can't do anything right.

Imagine if 60 years after Columbus all the European powers had done was send ships to gather plant and soil samples and establish one tiny colony of 6-7 men on a Caribbean island. That's what the current state of space exploration has been under the control of government space programs. It's time to turn the private sector loose.

Yeah, Musk may be our only hope of getting back to the Moon, much less Mars.
I don't see NASA being able to do it anymore, and Boeing doesn't look ready after stranding those two astronauts in space and all of their other problems.

I remember seeing a brief clip a couple of years ago with some engineer from NASA who said something like we don't know how anymore, and I took it to mean that they must have lost a lot of institutional knowledge at NASA in the years after Apollo 17 when they cancelled the program, and then the Germans engineers, especially Wernher von Braun and Kurt Debus, passed away. Those guys were the heart of the program and probably took a lot of that knowledge to their graves.

Today we would basically be starting over. Technology has gotten better, but in many ways we are dumber.

NASA even lost a lot of the old footage of Moon walks that our astronauts did back then. They think that the tapes must have been erased and reused.
Government efficiency at its finest...

Artemis is being built by United Lunch Alliance, which is Boeing and Lockheed. That’s all one needs to know.

So let me see if I have this straight, Constellation was cancelled for being over budget, overly complex and late. They then replaced Constellation with Artemis, which is now potentially being cancelled because it’s over budget, overly complex, and late.

So basically a pattern of incompetence and mismanagement. Or perhaps it was always intended to fail and this is just a way to launder money to aerospace companies. Ridiculous and heads should roll!

But there is so much accomplishment:

- DEI
- meetings
- mingling
- rubbing elbows
- the talk
- the dialogue (dialog?)
- global warming
- movements
- more meetings
- abortions
- insurrections
- “mostly peaceful” VIOLENCE

and, now, what was NASA supposed to be doing, otherwise!?

the days of the government-only space business have eclipsed, with nary a t a x dollar to prove its worth, except in probes.

I believe it. People believe in evolution but evolution doesn’t always work in one direction. As a species we are breaking down and our world is turning into crap.

Gosh, if only we could find someone who knew something about rockets to look into the DEI hiring within NASA.

The next American on the moon will either be --

1) A scientist on a Chinese spacecraft.
2) Something arranged by Elon Musk with Chinese permission to land at their base.

Meanwhile Trumo has other thing to worry about besides a space race.

DEI could not figure out what biological thing would be “the first to step foot on the moon, in __ years.”

Thus, mission and rocket stuff canceled.

But NASA not canceled.
